I see that mine has decided to put out a second "Head" of branches/leaves to one side of the top. It regularly sent our saplings at the base. We dug them up and planted them in a row down my sons drivereway. They look to be doing OK. I'm going to leave well alone with this second head thing as the cycad is very very old. Was on the piece of land we bought over 40 years ago and even brick/paved around it so as not to disturb the roots. Now I know that no amount of disturbing would kill it.

There is one in the botanical garden here that is supposedly from the 1860s.

All the rain we have had this summer has encouraged it. Haha something good from the wet Summer ... bt also maybe the intense heat we had for a short time ?

On Friday I got my gardener to hack back some of that dreadful bamboo creeper. It has revealed a few more cycad babies growing under the Tree palms. I now will have to find somewhere that they can growing happily for the next 100 years!

Mick, is the cycas in your garden in the ground or in a pot? It's hard to tell from the photo.
I just saw some for sale at Lidl but don't want to faff around too much. I used to have one but it got mealybugs and eventually died. I'm wondering whether I can just plant it outside. Have looked at a few websites and videos but they seem to all put them in pots.

Been in the ground for 2 winters now.

Beautifully elegant Agave portrait, Mick. That plant isn't all that easy to photograph, either!

Those two last photos are both excellent and it seems the agave is pointing up to the chard

That is a lovely rose Mick - reminds of Beach Girl, which I will post more photos as she blesses me with buds!

It was a perfect day for taking pictures. This was at my garden job.
The grass is a bit of a monster and I cut it right back twice a year.

Lovely photo Mick; I had a huge patch of pampas at my last house . Now it would be worth a fortune due to its popularity amongst 20/30 somethings as an indoor decoration. Myself i cant escape from the memory of it being a sign for swingers ...not even sure where that came from.
