I am just back from a wonderful weekend camping in rural Kent. Here are some impressions of the place. I hope you will enjoy them.

My monitor is showing "reduced by 22%" which is completely acceptable for me. (Anything over 30% can be a bit of a problem, though.)
I like the first pictures -- anonymous fields lead to adventure!

Oh, that does look magical, Annie! Can't wait for the whole story.
For the record, pictures can be up to 800 wide x 700 high before the automatic re-sizer kicks in. So, yours are not huge, but if you want the thread to load faster, making them no bigger than 800x700 will help.

Thanks, CPB! it's only the camera that took the pics. I merely pointed at what I wanted. No, I didn't see any of the gnomes. Heard lots of laughing and merry making, though!

Oh, I believe, I do believe! This was one of my absolute favorites as a child, and the wonder has never completely gone away. You really did capture the magic of the woods. I can smell the damp earth and leaves. The mushroom pictures are wonderful. But it's the 2nd photo in reply #10 that draws me in and in. Just lovely -- thanks!

thank you, bixabella! No2 @10 is a picture along the path we were walking on. we were in an area full of hornbeams aka muscle tree. quite fascinating, aren't they? other areas were full of various types of oaks, Turkey oaks among them. But quite a few of the latter were not particularly "happy" as their tiny undeveloped acorns were scattered on the floor of the forest.

Very Merlin-magical forest scenes. I'm not going there in the middle of the night.

Nothing to worry about, K. I didn't take pics but that bit of the forest is so popular that we saw the remains of at least one party (namely empty cans, guy ropes in perfect condition, plastic bags) and also tagged trees. Now, I think a good tag on concrete can really beautify an area. But trees are beautiful enough. They don't need any further "beautifying" especially not with paint spray.
We were camping a few minutes' drive from there, and it was really peaceful. The fairies made it comfortable for us. It is always a question of asking nicely!
