No problems for me either but I usually don't log in and out.

It only happens on my laptop here. When I use my phone it doesn't do it, but I can't really appreciate the site on my phone.

I've decided it's about time I did a bit more walking to keep me healthy. I will up my normal walking to and fro but in addition next May I'll do a 162km(?) walk in Spain. Nothing too difficult it is, but it'll make a change. Already booked a flight, just need the details sorting.

Are you Insane!? A person who just rambles around in a touristy way. This is where the announcements come flowing in about "A 50 year old man collapses during his first race/walk" OR, Elderly man crawls over the finish line only to be hospitalised". Mark, are you really that fit??? Really?

Seriously, Tod?! He's still quite young and a person who stays active. You talk as though he should be in a rocker with an afgan over his knees & a keeper hovering over him. I'm at least ten years older than Mark & I'd consider training for such a walk if I weren't lazy.

A person who just rambles around in a touristy way. Damned by faint praise. Ouch. tod, thanks for your concern, but I am fit enough. Quite easily so. And I wish I was fifty again. Bixa mentions training, Mrs M mentioned training (but also believes, now I've told her the details, that she nor I probably needs to), but I'm not really going to. The details are - it sounds a lot, 162km, but over ten days walking, it is 16km a day. I will have two rest days mixed in and also two extra days just in case. 16km may sound a lot if I was going to the Himalayas, or Sierra Nevada, but I'll be walking along the coast on a new(ish) path that's just about completed between Nerja and Manilva on the Andalusian coast. The maximum height I will walk up is not hundreds of metres, or thousands - it is twelve. Twelve. I've dived off higher into the sea/lakes. It's flat. On the walking days I'll be walking a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the afternoon. That's about all. I led with the 162km thing to make me sound heroic (and possibly foolish) but in reality it's a gentle stroll over a couple of weeks. This - www.andalucia.com/walking/senda-litoral-malaga.htmA couple of videos - This is from nearly three years ago and it's a lot more finished now -

Cut it down to 5 days and we'll be impressed.

In fact, it sounds like a good extended anyport get together. Mick could organise it as we could do it in an October and it passes by where he'll be staying. October would be good as well as May. Not too hot or cold and usually sunny weather.

Sounds like a good walk, Mark. I have a friend, Joel Stratte-McClure, who has walked around much of the Mediterranean and written at least three books about it (he’s a writer by trade). I’ve read the first book and remember it being interesting. It’s called The Idiot and the Odyssey, if you’re interested.

It looks like a pleasant walk for sure. 16 km a day is really not much.

htmb, thanks for the book idea but I must say, after reading about it, it doesn't sound if it is for me. bjd, we'll see if it is too much, but I doubt it.

Is this part of the Camino? I have a friend who looks very unfit but every year he walks one of the arms of the pilgrimage to its end.

No it isn't Questa. In Spain there are numerous walking paths, some very long distance like the 12,000km long E4 which goes from Tarifa to Larnaca in Cyprus and the Camino you mean, the Camino de Santiago, is relatively short but has several branches depending on your start point. The walk I'd do is nothing to do with that but is part of the E12 long distance European path.

Uh-oh! Sorry if I got the impression you were almost past your Sold-By-Date Mark I was thinking you don't need to do something intense to impress us as we think you are great anyway! I wish you a great walk and look forward to photos of the journey.

There's a busy pilgrim's trail to Assisi, then Rome that runs nearby here and not many of the trekkers on it look particularly fit to me. But they apparently are, or enough.

That’s a lovely walk Mark. I know that well as it reaches La Cala but unfortunately stops before our favourite seafront restaurant meaning we have to walk along the side of the motorway to get there. If they have completed that section now it would be wonderful. Must check the dates I am there.

Got a funny discussion with my belgian boss. Started about my next company car, my boss apologising that i would get a full electrical one, me saying u never look into the mouth of a given horse, and i say thanks on top of it...
Then she recountrd her experience as being a boss in a country not so far from here. Up north, where people stop work at 5 pm and she was too far away to come home and stayed in a hotel. Spent dozens and dozens of nights alone. Nobody from her staff inviting her. Then one night, after several years, she gets invited at a barbecue. And sees the meat on the guy's next expenses...

Tod, no problem.
Mick, I'll be heading into there from Malaga direction. As far as I can see it'll need a walk along the beach for a while. South of your place it's completed I believe.

I have been waiting for a new car for a very long time. My Landrover Discovery was sold as it was getting a bit old and Mr.Tod and I have been using his Isuzu pick up as our main mode of transport for over a year or nearly a year. So my son gave me his VW Caddy and took possession of a Toyota Fortuna VX last week. I am so glad it's not for me as the "running boards" are a pain for enter and exit the vehicle and I don't like the dark tinted windows. The Caddy will suit me fine to go to the shops and back.

I think they banned tinted windows in France except for taxis (most of which do not use them) because disreputable people tend to be attracted to them.

Tinted glass is forbidden for windshield, front windows. The glass must absorb/reflect x% of rays but also allow for y% of light transmission (Tl of about 44pc if I remember ok).
Below you don't see enough for a safe driving.

I wish they would ban all tinted glass here also. But that wont happen as all the " Official" government passenger vehicles have tinted windows. Not the windscreen of course. With one of the highest crime rates in the world you would think the police would want to see who's who in the zoo.

Took advantage of a rare rainy day on Sanibel Island Florida to compose a Shutterfly photo Christmas card with update printed on the back. I’ll address and send them from here, putting me very much ahead of the game, as normally I am lucky to have them postmarked by Xmas day.
But since I skipped last year (1st time in almost 5 decades!) due to my sister’s death and the pandemic and Trump and the Big Lie and being wholly unable to get in the holiday spirit, I wanted to get my cards out early so folks would have time to respond, in case they’d dropped me off their list. (Some people refuse to reply to cards that arrive too late.) I send over 100 cards a year and usually receive around 50-60. (You pretty much have to DIE to fall off my Xmas card list!)
Mr. Kimby wonders why I do this, till we hear from a friend we haven’t seen in decades who’s going to be passing through, and we have a lovely visit. If not for the exchange of holiday greetings, we would lose touch with so many people. Not everyone is on Facebook…
