I am more interested in movies than in the World Cup, but right now Qatar is definitely putting on a far better show than the Oscars for the first round drawing. Since far more people are interested in football than movies, I say bravo.

Yesterday was quite a day for us. It was my son and his wife's reception for their wedding which took place a year ago and which should have taken place 2 years ago. My daughter organised it and did a wonderful job and should really be a professional wedding planner. They have now been together for 22 years.
And it was eldest grandson's birthday - 23.

You should give her a present of a nice trip to Lindon.

Gorgeous! Is that your work, Mick? It is a homage to Spring and perhaps to Ukraine, too?

No, it was the flower lady who has a stall at the pub. She is very good and always has good stock. She also has a little Yorkshire terrier that I want to steal. More purple and yellow than blue and yellow but certainly spring colours.

Congratulations to all! Sounds like great fun especially in light of all the delays many families had to endure that prevented them from gathering. One of T.'s 1st cousins got married during the peak of the pandemic and they went ahead with the wedding and reception. Since he has such a large family coupled with his cousin's bride to be and her family plus friends of both we knew it would be a large affair, so we declined. I was saddened by this and miffed that they went through with it thinking it was way too irresponsible. What would be so wrong with waiting escapes me.

You should give her a present of a nice trip to Lindon. That is actually a very good idea, my daughters all live Lindon. 😉 We made several family trips to London and they all love it. One loves London above Paris, which is a problem...

So we were all together and i received some flak about something - forgot what.
So I rolled my eyes, launched my arms up in the air and complained that i should never have 'made' 3 daughters. And my wife intervened and said that i should not have killed my son.
Wtf ? I am the one with a distateful dark sense of humor. So i was flummoxed then we all laughed - the kind of roflol.
I love my family. They forgive my bad tastes, my poor manners and my strange sense of humor.
Same goes for my friends, actually. I am so lucky to have found normal people who can like me...
And i am picturing Robin laughing... so a very good moment. Life is good.

And it was eldest grandson's birthday - 23. Birthday of my sons partner on 1st April - Friday. We met them down at her beach house yesterday for a slap-up birthday lunch. The restaurant is right of the beach. The weather was cool and overcast and the sea calm as it rushed onto the sand. It was a lovely birthday for her. Only turned 36.

Happy birthday to Mick's grandson and Whatagain's daughter...and to my beloved. Yesterday it was Jeffers' birthday. I would normally bake something, but he really wanted a big roast beef dinner with all the trimmings which tied up my oven...so I bought a rather unimpressive frozen gateaux (black forest, allegedly) from a local supermarket on a whim. Whilst there I bought a set of birthday candles to put on the cake..these were shaped into letters..in the packet it looked like there were 2 candles one spelling 'HAPPY' the other 'BIRTHDAY' but instead there were 13 individual candle letters. I had great fun mixing up the letters so when we lit them we had to sing.... 'bharpdiy pahty to you, bharpdiy pahty to you...bharpdiy PAHTY dear Jeffrey ...bhardtiy pahty to yoooooooooouoo'

Yeah, somebody spammed it up.
I'm wondering why K2 hasn't "fixed" it.
I guess we have to wait for "The Wizard".

I was confronted by a most unusual sight and decided the best thing to do was just go off Anyport. I have no idea what else I could have done. You know I'm not good at computer stuff.

Are you referring to the spam, Tod, or something else?
On every post in the forum, up in the right hand corner there is a little cog with a downward pointing arrow next to it. If you click on the arrow, one of the choices in the drop-down menu is "report post". Clicking on that will alert Admin that the post needs to be dealt with.
Since Kerouac and I are in different time zones, there is a good chance one of us will find a problematic post, but not necessarily, which is why the host forum built in a way for users to report such things.

I’m a moderator on a cactus website which is principally American so when I log on I often get spam to deal with that arrives while everybody else is asleep.

It happens on a lot of sites. One of the ones where I see it regularly is the Fodor's forum -- just like happened here, spam polluting almost every single thread. I just wonder how many customers these people manage to get.

I think the fact spam happens on anyport a lot, yet we, the members, rarely see it, speaks volumes for how well the site is managed by you two moderators/creators.
