I don't quite know why Annie but for some reason I thought you were vegetarian.

It glistens with gorgeousness! I'm dying for some rare steak now.
Everything you did looks delicious.
I've never had one of those grill pans. It seems to have done a wonderful job on your steak.

I don't quite know why Annie but for some reason I thought you were vegetarian. I think that Annie was at one time kidnapped by vegetarians who tried to starve her.

yes, that was a long long time ago, K2 ;D but apparently I still look like a vegetarian.
Bixa, these pans are the works if you like a nice steak... that's if you can get one where you are (hope you can). Thanks for the compliments, but it's mostly down to the pan. Well.. obviously if you can easily fire a BBQ/Braai, you may prefer that option. But with no outside space available, a cast iron grill pan on the gas is ideal.
It is a rare treat for me, but I tried to make the most of it and it was well worth it and all things considered... I got three meals out of this prime piece of beef! Was well worth the £7 something I paid for it. not sure how much exactly as I bought some other things from the butcher's.

£7 is not expensive at all for a piece of meat like that by my Parisian standards.

agreed. and it's local beef from the proper butcher. It's been hung a bit.

She has nice taste. Hope you like them.
Anyway, what I came here to say is that it's a good thing AuntieAnnie is a medical person. Now she can take care of me when I have some kind of cholesterol related incident from the big sirloin steak I went & bought because I'd been obsessing about steak ever since seeing this thread.
I don't think my hunk o'beef was as big as yours, though, Annie. I had part of it night before last, and will probably have the rest tonight. Unfortunately, I did overcook it slightly. I like a red, but firm middle & it came out pink, so not perfect. This was probably because it had been so long since I'd made steak.

Ah... Bixabella, mine was cooked just right for me, but it was more by luck than anything else. Was it the first time you attempted it in your new house? Each cooker behaves differently.
hehe... cholesterol. taken care of with flaxseedoil, I believe. and maybe hawthorn leaves, but I'd have to read on that and am absolutely snowed under things to read up at the mo. Exams in less than two months now. (aaaah! my blood pressure just hit the roof!)

You are kind, Annie, but it was because I didn't pay enough attention. Anyway, it came out perfectly last night except it was a really big piece. That should take care of the bloody red meat craving for a while.
The real truth is, I never think about cholesterol. I eat tons of garlic and raw onions, not that much meat usually, nor cheese, and butter almost never. I do eat eggs fairly frequently.
Hmm. My daily vitamins might have flaxseed oil in them. I should check.
You'll do brilliantly on your exams. I used to know some people who'd eat comfrey to help sharpen their minds for studying. I wonder if there's anything to that. I believe we're usually warned against taking it internally.

so you have nothing to worry about cholesterol. anyway, do you know that cholesterol is where it's at at embryonic stage? when we develop into babies, we take a lot from cholesterol.
Not supposed to eat comfrey as a veg. it's a fantastic medicine in form of tea or tincture but SHOULD NOT BE CONSUMED AS VEGETABLE. (sorry for the shouting. it's very important.)
