The worst part of the day for me is when I have to pull myself away from what I'm enjoying at the time and prepare to tend to some tedious joyless task usually involving others I don't care to be around. Sometimes it's work, other times social obligations or committments I made and regret afterwards.

The worst part of the day is 07.00 am when I clock on.

When I wake up and think its a day off, snuggle back under the covers and then realise its a work day.

When I get into the office in winter and there is an issue with the heating system. Everybody there just shouts at me. Feels like getting into the big cats' enclosure at feeding time.

The worst part of the day for me is when I leave the nursing home. Normally, I should feel relieved to have the evening to myself, but it isn't always the greatest when the last thing one hears is something like "I'm going to die."

The worst part of my day is having to talk to all you sad bastards.

K2, I get that same feeling when I call my mother and there are these long pauses,I feel like I have to make conversation and then there's silence. I'm long past the point of saying "are you there?"

Be grateful for the time(s) you have.

You're so right G.,I have to remind myself of that. It's hard.

Yes, I'm sure it's hard; I wasn't being judgemental. It's easy not to miss things when you've already had them.

I did not find it judgemental at all, more of a gentle reminder. Thank you.

Okay, cool. It's ironic that you miss people the most when you're happier. It feels like you have less to share, and that's sad.

The worst part of this day just occurred as 2 leaf blowers cranked up outside, all my windows open.

Ha! To me, leaf blowers only happen in American films or tv. I've never seen one in operation in the UK.
Having said that, for the first time in my life today, I made microwave popcorn.

Oh, that reminds me that I have a package of French microwave popcorn that I haven't made yet. Up until now, the only brands sold were imported. I want to see one of these days if there is anything different about it -- if I ever come across the package again in one of my cupboards.

When you power up the microwave, instead of popping, it'll probably just shrug nonchalantly ....

The worst time of day is when I wake up at 3 a.m., my mind is lively and realise I am not going back to sleep until just before the alarm rings.

Be positive. You've got an hour more daylight this evening. I love it when the clocks go forward - another three weeks to go here.

Actually, I do love it. In the autumn I dread the early pm dark,I may suffer from SAD,it takes weeks for me to adjust.

Where we live now we are on virtually the same longitude as Greenwich but are one hour ahead of GMT. On top of that we are further towards the equator so winter evenings are not so dark. We have one and a half more evening daylight hours in winter compared with southern England. That is important for me.

The worst part of my day is having to talk to all you sad bastards. I was going to say that the worst part of my day was when a perfectly good thread was ruined by a g-bomb like this one. Then I read the rest of the thread and gyro managed to redeem himself. ;-) (And perhaps gyro had his tongue in his cheek when he said that, but I just couldn't see it without the emoticon!) I too, hate the wide awake in the middle of the night moments. Fortunately they don't happen too often for me.

Emoticon ? I hate the little fuckers; they offend me more than word can. You should not take things so seriously, and then maybe wouldn't be almost offended.
