Fascinating. It looks like Cape Town celebrates the Fête Nationale even more than Paris! Beside the French settlers who arrived in South Africa long ago, I know that quite a few French winemakers have settled there in recent years -- the weather and the soil are ideal.

That was delightful, Tod! And Kerouac's comment about the intensity of the celebrations sounds like the disparity between St. Patrick's day in Ireland & the US, or of 5 de Mayo in Mexico & the US. That's interesting about the French winemakers. I guess all the French-in-France people seeing those pics felt great envy about how many more berets the South Africans have.

I was surprised to see a Bastille Day post in South Africa! Looks like fun.
