Kerouac, I read in our Sunday papers today that scientists have uncovered fossil remains of a Mammoth in Paris. No details given except that it was on a river bank. Please can you throw some light on this find?? Thanks.

Thanks Mossie - I did just what you suggested and saw the whole story! I first thought it was IN Paris so got all excited, but now see its a little out of town. Still, if I could take a bus or train ride there just to see the place, I would. I love fossils. I came so close to buying a beautiful big tooth from a Megalodon when I was in Canada. Could kick myself now for not spending the moola.

I have read in recent weeks that there is a plan to possibly bring mammoths back, as there is apparently some perfectly preserved DNA available and it is not impossible that an elephant could carry a mammoth or part-mammoth baby.

Well I suppose if scientists think they have the right diet for the mommoth! The earth has lost so many species I guess adding a few wouldn't hurt?......or would it now The mammoth, being just a hairy elephant may look OK but what of it's temperament and survival instincts. I hope its not going to be a 'true' Frankenphant ;D
