(New page, time for a summary:
Oscar-winning (award category unstated) American movie, made in the 90's by a director who is still making movies (though not prolifically). Not an action film, it is a drama with some comedic moments, and maybe a few tears, set in an unnamed American city. The male lead has starred in a major movie in the past year, and there is at least one "mature" moment. No animal roles, but at least one child....)
13. Was the Oscar for Best Actor?

16. No one dies.

17. Does it have an actor in it that used to be in 'friends'?

17. Thinking of the main actors on Friends, none of them appeared in this movie.

I'm feeling rather pleased with my movie pick.
Not so pleased with the guesses. I am expecting better from this crew.
(it was a rather popular film.)

Well, you don't give much in the way of clues.

This movie had several memorable quotes. Does that help?

Jeez...I'm still non the wiser.
18. does it have something to do with God or fantasy?

18. Not God or fantasy A clue: Some of the film's most memorable and iconic lines have reappeared in later movies such as A Night at the Roxbury, Shark Tale and The Dark Night. In fact, I believe all 3 of those movies used the same lines. By the way...I think this is a very clue Mister K.

I'm sure it's a great clue, but I have no idea what those other movies are. Oh, the middle one was animated, wasn't it? Never saw it... So the quotes are lost on my brain.

19. Is it the 'Godfather'?
|
|
|
Post by cristina on Jun 3, 2010 13:00:33 GMT
19. The Godfather? I believe that was made in the 70's and lots of people died in that film. So, no. The movie I have in mind featured professional sports. Although it is not a sports film.

(not to mention a major animal scene in The Godfather! ) (I'm still thinking because we have arrived at the last question!)

hmmmm.... working on the clues.... professional sports.... In the U.S., those would be baseball, football, basketball, hockey, tennis, boxing.

I'm sure it's a great clue, but I have no idea what those other movies are. Oh, the middle one was animated, wasn't it? Never saw it... So the quotes are lost on my brain. You've never heard of The Dark Night? The Batman movie featuring Heath Ledger...even if you never saw it you had to have heard of it.

Dark Knight I even saw.

*hangs head in embarrassment* I can't believe I made the same mistake twice. So very sorry about that. Does the fact that the Dark Knight lifted a famous quote from my movie help at all?

(not to mention a major animal scene in The Godfather! ) (I'm still thinking because we have arrived at the last question!) Are you sure about that? ;D It was desperation that led me to guess that one I tell you. So it was the 'Dark Knight,' but wouldn't that come under the 'fantasy' thing?

So it was the 'Dark Knight,' but wouldn't that come under the 'fantasy' thing? I think Deyana is a selective reader. It is not the Dark Knight (a movie that also was not made in the 90's, btw, which leads me to believe Deyana is also time challenged ). To clarify: A quote from the movie I am thinking of appears in the Dark Knight.

Do you mean there was actually dialogue in The Dark Knight and not just stupid chase scenes? still thinking....

cristina, I'm guilty as charged. One more question left I think I'll leave it up to someone else to ask, 'cause I still don't have a clue.
