Muscovy -- alternative name for the Grand Duchy of Moscow (1263–1547), the Tsardom of Russia (1547–1721), or (rarely) the Russian Empire (1721–1917).

Gotham - village in Nottinghamshire my grandparents retired to. Pronounced Gohtam. Has the connection with Batman because of the story of the village reputedly being inhabited by mad people who feigned madness and stupidity to avoid the Kings Highway being built through there during the reign of King John - thus -
"Reminded of the foolish ingenuity of Gotham's residents, the American writer Washington Irving gave the name "Gotham" to New York City in his Salmagundi Papers (1807). In turn, Bill Finger named Batman's pastiche New York Gotham City. The existence of Gotham, Nottinghamshire in the DC Universe was recently acknowledged in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight No. 206 (and again in 52 No. 27), although the connection between two names within the DCU has not been fully explained. In a story titled 'Cityscape' in Batman Chronicles No. 6 it is revealed that Gotham was initially built for the purpose of housing the criminally insane, and Robin reads a journal that tells of how Gotham got its name; "I even have a name for it. We could call it 'Gotham' after a village in England – where, according to common belief, all are bereft of their wits."

Moorgreen - hamlet in Nottinghamshire just down the hill from Eastwood of DH Lawrence fame. Famous for nothing much but having a nice reservoir and the remnants of a coal mine (mining took place between 1865 and 1985) I used to work at in its latter years - now flattened and made into a wood, Colliers Wood.

Mooi River is a small town in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The first European settlement in the area was at Mooi River Drift in 1852. This was formally named Weston in 1866 after the first Governor of Natal, Martin West. In 1879, an Irishman named Alexander Lawrence purchased the farm "Grantleigh" upstream from Weston, on the banks of the Mooi River meaning "pretty river".
In 1884, the railway line from Durban to Johannesburg, in the interior, reached the area and was built across Alexander Lawrence's land. He subsequently laid out and establish the village of Lawrenceville on his farm "Grantleigh" and so is known as "The Father of Mooi River". In 1921, the village was renamed Mooi River when it was declared a town.
The Agricultural college nearby is named Weston. So is my youngest grandson.
