Here is a photo of my little cherry tree. It's been doing ok so far but recently the leaves have been going yellow. It's not the yellow as if the tree is dying but there is something affecting the leaves. Too hot, too much/little water, viral, insects, fed up with life and wants to commit suicide, lonely and sad, ...... or what?

It looks a little like what happened when we put our bay laurel tree out in the strong sun for the first time - my dad calls it sunburn. It recovered when we shaded it a bit more. Does it get a lot of strong sun?

It's not in the sun all day but I think it is a combination of the sun and a hot wind. Possibly.

Can't recall seeing too many cherry trees in Spain I must say. Not sure that they would be happy there.

There are lots of cherry trees where I live (even in our garden) and it's hot and dry in summer, although perhaps not quite as hot and dry as where Mark is. Right now it's 34°C.
When did you plant it?
I have never known what causes it, but over the years I have noticed that in mid-summer the cherry trees often lose some of their leaves as though it was autumn.
I just went to have a look at a cherry tree I planted in a pot this spring. Some of its leaves look yellow! (I have been away so haven't been watering, despite the heat.) Maybe it's normal?

I planted it in March this year. It's been doing quite well so far. Maybe it is normal(ish).
mick, the local small supermarket was selling them and though not common, there are quite a few around.
