When Jeremy Corbyn came to power initially I really thought that we had a possibility of a real leader, but he hasn't been able to unite his politicians and appears weak to the voters. I can't see a light at the end of the tunnel tbh. We have to hope that a new generation of MPs will be able to make sense of it all.

"The price of Liberty is eternal vigilance" Looks like a whole population left it to 'someone else' to keep watch.
Back in the early 1970s I was an active member of the Australian Democrats party. The party was formed by a handful of politicians who were disgusted by the Liberal party's ethics and were led by the brilliant Don Chipp, former war hero and Minister for Defence in the Liberal Government.
When asked by an interviewer what role the Democrats would play in The House his answer was "To keep the bastards honest" This has persisted as a slogan or as graffiti even though the party closed down a few years ago.

When Corbyn attracted big crowds singing “Oh J. C”, I thought we had a proper leader emerging, but have been very sadly mistaken. To make things worse he appears to greatly admire Hugo Chavez and the present crook running Venezuela into the ground. That was an extremely oil rich country, but has been brought to its knees by pure stupidity and greed. That is what Corbyn wants to emulate here, Gawd help us. We have the most useless, spineless shower of politicians now, we badly need a revolution.

It's finally all becoming clear. Now that President Trump has announced his intention of taking over the NHS, it is finally clear where all of the Brexit savings will be coming from. PM Johnson will only have to pay double or triple for great American private healthcare. It's a shame that life expectancy in the U.S. has been declining for the past few years.

PM Johnson or PM Hunt, bad as each other. Boris strikes me as the sort of chap who handed his homework in late, covered in ink blots. Jeremy Hunt probably got a lackey to do it for him as he sat twitching in the corner...the man has axe murderer written all over him...imo...I'm terrified of him getting the big chair....

I am equally terrified at the thought of Jeremy Corbyn and Dianne Abbot being in charge. Don't worry Mick, I don't think that there's much chance of that...many labour voters have abandoned the party because of their feeble showing over the past 2 years. Including me.

From where do you think help will come, Cheery? Certainly not from the chinless wonders in the Parliament, nor from the workers trying to make ends meet in their own lives. You could ask the journalists, they see the human face of the suffering caused by greedy, powerful, off-shore interests. Trouble with this is the journalists are being treated like criminals, being finger printed, files stolen, harassed constantly and even imprisoned for trying to reveal the truth to us all.
While your possible leader-to-be does not show the evil that some other leaders take pride in, he is still a babbling buffoon. At a time when your country is in a difficult situation and needs a wise and strong leader, it looks like you will be stuck with Bozo the Clown who can't (or won't) answer any bloody questions.

My post wasn't a reaction to the previous post I just feel lost. When PM May's team negotiated the extension to October 31st politicians were told not to waste any time but to prepare. Since then they've had three holidays and a leadership election. There might be some honourable politicians out there...but we still don't seem to have any honest to goodness leaders.

I just reread page one of this thread. Towards the bottom there is a comment about Boris Johnson. It seems to have been confirmed completely by this behaviour since then.
"Boris Johnson is a former editor of this newspaper, and as such has the right to be treated with a courtesy Spectator journalists do not normally extend to politicians who do not enjoy his advantages.
I am therefore writing with the caution of a lawyer and the deference of a palace flunkey when I say that Johnson showed this morning that he is a man without principle or shame. He is a braying charlatan, who lacks the courage even to be an honest bastard, for there is a kind of bastardly integrity in showing the world who you really are, but instead uses the tactics of the coward and the tricks of the fraudster to advance his worthless career."

Absolutely bjd. I hesitate to post about politics because I realise that I'm not only VERY biased against Tory politicians (and increasingly, politicians in general) but also not particularly knowledgeable on the subject. The BBC, the Guardian newspaper and the Telegraph (I know it's a Tory paper but it was the best written newspaper that we had imo) used to provide my with the information I needed to form my opinions...plus the action/inactivity of the current crop of MPs...but nowadays?
I dont trust the media anymore, impartiality has given way to "the current executives' viewpoint. I still read the Guardian when I remember to buy it, just take into account the leftwing leanings of the newspaper. In my very heart I despise Boris Johnson. He's our Trump. I don't like Jeremy Hunt. If he becomes PM I reckon he'd do a reasonable job and could well evolve into a more forceful character in time. I'm not frightened of Hunt taking the job...but the thought of Johnson in the post terrifies me.
All we can do is wait and see. We don't really know what's going to happen. Brexit has been catastrophic for the UK imo...very divisive. We've seen a rise in abhorrent behaviour as far right groups feel vindicated by the Brexit vote, social media is full of Brexit b*llsh**...from both sides. Theres been a dumbing down everywhere...politicians seem ignorant, ridiculous and inadequate (Farage, Johnson, Rees-Mogg and, I'm afraid Corbyn amongst them)...
Freedom of speech is important, but MPs spouting lies to mislead the voting public should be a criminal offence. A good 3/4 of them would already be in the tower...imo.
Sorry...it's all been said before...better out than in.
