It's funny how the perspective can completely distort the impression of the size of so many of the buildings, starting with the Eiffel Tower which seems to be smaller and shorter than the Tour Montparnasse when seen from there, or the Centre Pompidou which seems considerably smaller than Saint Sulpice in front of it. And if one does not already know the size of the domes of the Invalides or the Panthéon, they don't give the impression of being huge either. One exception is Sacré Coeur which looks like it "must be" very big even when seen from such a great distance. The Luxembourg Gardens or the cemetery of Montparnasse both look like you could do a complete tour in about 5 minutes. In any case, your photos are spectacular and it was lucky that it was a very clear day. I particularly like the train tracks with all of the train movements and also the zoomed in photo of the Eiffel Tower which gives a good view of the rooftop of the Fondation Louis Vuitton with its coloured diamond shapes by Daniel Buren covering the roof at the moment -- and La Défense always looks impressive when you can see the scope and number of the skyscrapers there.

That view of the now colorful Fondation convinced me I didn't need to get a closer look.

The sinuous trains really took my eye.

And Gare Montparnasse only comes in 4th for the number of passengers. (51.2 million compared to the 201.8 million of Gare du Nord.)

I have been really looking forward to your pictures from the Tour Montparnasse, as I knew you were snapping away carefully and methodically. But goodness gracious, I didn't know they would be THIS good -- fabulous views from the Tour providing a virtual tour of Paris -- thanks!

Who would have thought I could be somewhat productive, while still being slightly under the weather.

Spectacular shots HTMB!!! How high up do you guess you were to have been able to view such an expansive area of the city.?
I too , loved the train shots. They appear so "wormy".
Thanks for these great pics.

Thanks, Casimira. I will defer to those more in the know, but I think it's something close to 59 stories high.
