This morning the news pundits I watched inferred the raid was well-planned with the help of "inside" sources. It was calmly and quietly carried out by unarmed FBI, dressed in plain clothes, who arrived mid-morning. Basically, someone knew what was being kept at his Palm Beach place and where it was being stored. The boxes of documents taken were classified at such a level, their subject matter cannot even be named to the public. So, just like a mob boss, someone inside ratted out the orange buffoon. Now he’s ranting and raving and claiming the FBI planted fake evidence to be used against him. It’s all a con and a show, and many more people than you’d think possible still support him.

Sweet summer child. I'm glad there are still people who believe in faeries and elves.

Trump is getting a substantial popularity boost within the R Party from the "raid". His popularity had been beginning to flag and this has really rallied his people to action. If he doesn't wind up in cuffs over this, it will have been a huge mistake to have executed the search warrant. You don't make a move like this without near-100% certainty that it leads to jail time, at least not if you're smart.

I agree, but i have also imagined that he might crave martyrdom, if legal issues prevent a new candidacy. Then he can claim that the election will have been stolen from him again without having to invent weird arithmetic.

Perhaps this fine institution belongs in the Library board on Anyport. Nevertheless, I'll put it here for all the keen observers of history to enjoy: djtrumplibrary.com/

I think it would be a wonderful and extremely appropriate gesture if President Trump offered hospitality to President Bolsonaro at Mar a Lago.

I read that Bolsonaro is somewhere near Disney World. I also read the other day that Bolsonaro is applying for Italian citizenship, on the strength of an Italian grandfather who emigrated to Brazil. He is hoping to be able to go and live in Italy without going through Brazil where he might be arrested.
Mar a Lago is a big place but can you imagine the ego clash if Trump invited him there?

Ooh and invite Boris too...rename it 'Megalomaniac Mansion' and build a wall around it to keep them all in...I can think of a few others I'd like to shove in there with them. With all those egomaniacs the place will probably implode with any luck...

Sorry, but I don't thik that Boris qualifies for that category yet. Perhaps Vladimir Putin or Kim Jong-Un could apply.

If Trump is finally going to be arrested for hush payments to a porn actress, that's like nabbing Al Capone on tax evasion charges. Does none of the more serious stuff count?

Agree, Bjd. It's not so much that he paid her off, but that the payments came out of campaign funds and were lied about. The indictment is still sealed, so there may be meatier charges in it. Also, he still has the US Justice Dept. and the state of Georgia snapping at his nasty heels.

Is the average American still buying into Trump? I think most of those still buying into Trump are rather below average.

True, but what they lack in intelligence, finesse etc, they make up in numbers.

I've still got a few old friends who've fallen into Trumpism. I still like them but none of them are what might be called intelligent.

The current business with the Trump-appointed judge in Texas perhaps being able to stop an abortion-producing drug in the entire US puzzles me. This is a medical, and perhaps political, decision, not a legal one. How can one unelected man be allowed to hold such outsize influence over so many people?
I just don't understand how the US works.

The Dominion voting machine company has just received a settlement of 787.5 million dollars from Fox News for all of the lies that were broadcast during the last presidential election. This is great, but it is still disappointing. The lawsuit asked for 1.6 billion dollars, but what's worse is that Fox has no obligation to say that they were wrong, they don't have to apologize for lying, and they have no obligation to publicise that any of this ever happened, so their viewers can remain proudly ignorant of the truth.

That sums up the situation with pinpoint accuracy. If you really want to be nauseated, here is Fox's self-serving, slmey announcement ~

Their main argument was going to be all about free speech and how they can say anything they want while being protected by the First Amendment. Murdoch and the Fox bunch would probably have lied in court too.

There are reams of emails, memos, etc. documenting the fact that the nasty vipers knew they were lying. Of course, that's the kind of thing which only thinking adults who pay attention to real news care about.

The worst is that this scum has no shame at all. Despite the published emails and messages that show what hypocrites they are, they keep on doing the same thing and will continue to do so.

Now that Tucker Carlson is leaving Fox News, perhaps he could become Trump's running mate in 2024.
