I'll be watching the final episode of season two of Somebody Somewhere. Much as I liked the first season, I think this one has been even better.
That was not the case with the third season of The Great. It's not that it was bad, just somehow lacked the verve of previous seasons & parts of it felt padded. That said, Elle Fanning, even in the midst of a cast of wonderful actors, shines like a star. The last scene of the final episode of this season is brilliant fun.
Catherine has cut off her hair & is in black because she is in mourning for Peter. The humming at the beginning of the clip is her & Peter's favorite music ~

Thanks for these recommendations, Lugg. I know I'll be looking out for Maryland -- ditto what you said about the women in it -- & The Gallows Pole. Did you know that Susan Tully directed at least one episode of Lark Rise to Candleford?

4 part ITV series Litvinenko with David Tennant. According to The Guardian it's a plodding police drama...but we are watching it anyway.

Sounds jolly. I was all excited because Outlander is back (season 7). As far as I can tell, a great part of episode 1, season 1 has been recreated. I can't be sure, since looking it up online gives too many spoilers & I fell asleep so have yet to see the confusing episode. This is apparently the next-to-last season of the series.

There's a comedy drama on channel 4 The Change set in the Forest of Dean written by Bridget Christie. A 50 year old menopausal woman..a wife and mother..has logged every single chore that she has performed during her marriage. After a visit to her GP (to discover that she is going through menopause) she decides to reclaim some of this time, climbs onto her motorbike and sets off for the Forest of Dean to look for the time capsule that she hid in a tree when she was 10 years old. I love it.

I saw that the French series HPI (now shown in 105 countries) has been purchased for an American remake as High Potential on ABC. Czechia and Greece have already launched local remakes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HPI_(TV_series)

I am wary of remakes...

What is HPI about?
Thanks for that recommendation of the The Change, Cheery. I'm looking for a good tv comedy.
Anyone who read my comment about the first episode of season seven of Outlander, please ignore that. It was a glitch in the platform I watch & really was the first episode of season one. I've since watched the season seven opener, which was adequate -- nothing more. Am I the only person who watches Outlander?

I’ve tried, but just can’t stand watching Outlander. I’ve only made it through the first two or three episodes, but watching was torture for me.

It's basically about a trashy woman with "intellectual high potential" in other words a very high IQ. In the very first episode she goes to a police station to complain about something. In the time she's there with the police ignoring her, she overhears them talking about a case enough to solve the case for them to their amazement and disgust (you know how these things go). And so of course in no time, she become indispensable.

Great premise! I’ve tried, but just can’t stand watching Outlander. I’ve only made it through the first two or three episodes, but watching was torture for me. Ha ha ~ I can relate. That is how the books affected me and why I avoided the show for a long time. There are some episodes & scenes I never could watch. But hey -- costume drama!

Yeah, now thinking about it, costume dramas aren’t really my thing.

Outlander is all purpose, though. It could easily be used in sex education classes.

Diana Gabaldon has certainly boosted Scotland’s tourist trade, at least when it comes to the those sites referenced in the books/films.

A positive side effect for me was having to look up information on the Jacobites. Charles Stuart is portrayed as a miserable little fop in the series.

Was just chatting with my 16 year old granddaughter (the author). She’d love the time-travel aspect, as well as all the historical threads. I’d love to recommend the books to her, but will wait a bit. At some point she’s bound to discover the television series.

We're enjoying the latest series of Van Der Valk on itv. I didn't like it at first but it's grown on me...

I’d love to recommend the books to her, but will wait a bit. At some point she’s bound to discover the television series. I was a full-grown woman when I discovered those books. But because of the absolute, really sick wallowing that Diana Gabaldon continuously does in her scenes of male rape, I gave them up before I got through the second volume. Be aware that it's all there in the tv show, too, in drawn-out overly vivid detail.

Am I the only person who watches Outlander? We began watching Outlander a couple of weeks ago and are almost finished with season 1. Both of us are enjoying it although my husband quite often has to hit pause. It has been quite a good distraction for my husband who is under restrictions and is very bored. It has been funny when we tell people we are watching it, seems we are the last to begin watching as we also were with Yellowstone.

I've been watching The Crowded Room starring Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried. Apple TV+ is only up to episode 6 so far (out of 10), but it is increasinlgy gripping, which is a good thing because I felt it started off slow. However, Tom Holland proves himself to be a really excellent actor again, and it is great to see him take a break from Spider-Man and comedy adventures like Uncharted.

Waiting our turn for Yellowstone season 5 and This is Us final season, we are watching Killing Eve season 4. Mr. Kimby isn’t real into it, but it’s entertaining. Seeing Villanelle as a wanna-be Christian is a departure, but never fear, she reverts to her true nature pretty quickly.

Glad to see a recommendation & trailer for The Crowded Room. I'm a fan of both the main actors, but so far have not been drawn to watch that series.
Jodie Comer is a joy to watch, but for whatever reason the air went out of the tires of Killing Eve for me some time back.

Rotten Tomatoes critics hated The Crowded Room while the spectators liked it very much. I will have to agree with the critics on at least one thing -- there was absolutely no reason to stretch it out for 10 episodes (and I haven't even seen the last four).

I tried capitaine Marlau. I don't like ghe actress, forgot her name and the eccentricity of her character starting with her hat. Anyway i swapped after 15 min and jumped to cadavres exquis withba Clementine Celarie close to hysterical. High on aggressive behaviour and a slow scenario. In short boring. And i realize i can't like a movie/series if i don't like the character... And the english woman speaking like Jane Birkin, sighing more than talking with a heavily accented french. And eyes like a fish. Well, i sound like i don't like much...
