A friend of mine recommended we take a look at Grace and Frankie with Jane Fonda & Lilly Tomlin. I found out that it's one of those movie series that introduces you to someone you have met before.....Lilly Tomlin with all her humming and smoke fumes wafting while in a yoga position, brought home an immediate recognition of a girlfriend I have known most of my life! In other words an old hippie.

So, I've now seen episode 7 of The Crowded Room, and it is becoming quite gripping. The first 5 episodes were just slowly builing up to the big reveal of episode 6, which was mostly a waste of time since the spectators either already knew the subject of the Daniel Keyes book ahead of time or figured out the situation very quickly. Now that the cat is officially out of the bag, the story and the characters can go wild.

Not created as a series, but over the past few weeks we have watched all three GODFATHER films. Inspired by THE OFFER, the excellent miniseries about the making of The Godfather, we set out to see the films. Well worth the 7+ hours! Godfather 1 (1972), II (1974) and III (1990). All 3 are beautifully staged, costumed and filmed, with a hauntingly beautiful score (ear worm alert!) and segments filmed on location in Sicily. Looking at IMDb to see who was in the cast, I noticed another title: The Godfather Saga, which in 1977 re-edited the first two films into a chronological miniseries of four 1:33 installments for TV. www.imdb.com/title/tt0809488/?ref_=ext_shr_lnkI vaguely remember watching this on TV, back when that’s where you watched miniseries.

I finally completed the ten episodes of The Crowded Room and found it sufficiently satisfying. I remain quite impressed by Tom Holland.

We Hunt Together left me wanting more, too. I first discovered Eve Myles when she starred in Torchwood.

We watched season two of Good Omens. Whilst we enjoyed it, it wasn't a patch on series one.

I've only seen the first two episodes of season two & am enjoying Michael Sheen's twinkly bookish epicure. The walk David Tennant developed for his character is a hoot & it's tons of fun watching Jon Hamm having so much fun with his part.

After watching a few episodes of Keiffer Sutherland in his role as The President in Designated Survivor, we started watching Virgin River......Why?? That is not an exciting series...It's a Soap Opera of Note! And when the participants screww up every five minutes I know why I am dreaming, tossing and turning, all night! So why don't I just leave those idiots to their fate? Because I want to see them drown in their own miserable making....

We’ve been watching Dr. Death the true story of a neurosurgeon who bungled many surgeries, but moved from hospital to hospital without being held accountable for his incompetence. Supremely narcissistic, he thinks he is the best neurosurgeon ever, and any problems were the fault of the anesthesiologist or the OR nurse. Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater play two fellow surgeons who try to stop him. It’s an 8-episode series based on a podcast. There is also a 4-part documentary featuring the real doctors and patients involved. Mr. Kimby (a retired doctor) thinks the series is not true to life in its portrayal of hospitals, administrators and doctors, and suspects that it is the documentary that we should be watching… www.imdb.com/title/tt9179552/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

We are on the hunt again for something exciting and well acted. Virgin River is finito, Designated Survivor is finito, Even watched the last episode of Morse last night, and I must say the story and acting are just so far above a lot of what is on offer now. I can only take so much of Grace & Frankie before I'm searching for another "Whodunnit". I love murder mysteries the most.

We watched season two of Good Omens. Whilst we enjoyed it, it wasn't a patch on series one. Finished watching season two a couple of days ago. I believe I enjoyed it more than season one. My enjoyment of the finale was somewhat marred by spoilers on the ending having been broadcast all over the internet.

Murdoch Mysteries continues to crack me up whenever I happen upon it. In the episode I watched today, they had to go to Buffalo NY for a case. First they are shocked at the number of American flags plastered everywhere, but later they end up in a restaurant that has totally run out of food. "Surely you have something left!" "All that's left is this bucket of inedible chicken scraps, wings and such, that we're about to throw out." The Canadians are so hungry that they ask for it to be cooked anyway. Later when they are gobbling it down ("try it with some of this spicy sauce"), the Americans smirk at each other. "Look, we can get the Canadians to eat our garbage!"
Also, George finally gets laid. That was a relief.

I've missed a lot of them. I just dip in from time to time because one of the channels here has periods when they show it all afternoon. As I've said in the past, it is basically just a copy of The Wild Wild West, but I loved that show.

Watching 1883, the one-season prequel to Yellowstone. With singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill doing a credible job as the first generation of Duttons to settle in Montana. Plenty of cowboys and Indians and killing. Gorgeously filmed. BTW, a friend and neighbor got cast as an extra in episode 10 as a “lavender seller”. Supposedly used for dealing with smelly bodies due to poor hygiene in the dry plains. I’m skeptical about lavender being available in 1883 in the western US, so googled it and found this: sunshinelavenderfarm.co/lavender-history/

The new series of Mortimer and Whitehouse : Gone Fishing started last Sunday (BBC2 2100) Lovely. Bob Mortimer's dog (Ted) is a Patterdale like my Django...altho my Django is much more handsome.
We finished watching I Claudius (or I ClaVdiVs as my nephew calls it...because of the titles) First shown in 1976 it has lost nne of it's charm, despite the terrible make up and clunky scenery. It's like watching a play at a theatre rather than a tv production. The beeb has been showing old favourites like 'Yes Minister' etc for a few months now, I'm excited to know what other treats we have in store.

We are watching Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale.I had to twist Mr. Kimby’s arm to keep watching this series, but it is proving to be worth our time. The interactions between June and Serena Joy are well-scripted and satisfying. I thought 5 might be the final season, but there may be a 6th season in 2024, plus a spin-off continuation of the story in an upcoming project called The Testament. I think. This article has spoilers in it, so beware. screenrant.com/the-testaments-cast-story-everything-we-know/

Not Mick but have have started Series 5 ...have always loved the fluffiness of it . The first two episodes have not been as great as I hoped . But I will continue to watch of course. Really enjoying " The Woman In The Wall " -No fluffiness here . It is not available for binge watching as the BBC are releasing one episode a week at the moment . Based on and expanded from the horrors of the Magdalene laundries in Ireland www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/aug/27/the-woman-in-the-wall-review-ruth-wilson-is-mesmerising-in-this-beautifully-made-gothic-mystery
