It's now March 22 there, correct? Is that what day it falls on every year?
In the US it falls on the 2nd Sunday in May. It's every May 10 in Mexico.

No, not every March 22nd, as it's always a Sunday. God only knows how they work it out; it's probably something to do with the moon and every 28 days, knowing you lot.

It is probably the Dutch floral industry that lobbied all over Europe so that it wouldn't be on the same day in the various countries.

Here is a charming website explaining the origin of Mother's Day in the UK.

My daughter gave me this box of mixed Krispy Kremes for mother's day, bought at Waterloo Station.

Please tell us about your climbing; that's something I've never done; I have a good head for heights but it's too late now. Perhaps another thread?

I think Mother's Day has come and gone here. It was on 8th March, International Women's Day.
Yes, Rikita, Mother's Day in Germany is on 10th May, I just checked. I always thought it was on the same day as 'Maria Himmelfahrt', (Mary's ascension?) but I seem to be wrong. Father's Day is always on Christi Himmelfahrt...
Those donuts look very good, SD! Top row, 2nd from the right, is that something with apple?

Top row, second from right is a cruller. Eggy and delicious, it is the most wonderful donut known to man. When I was a junior in high school, one of my best friends was "the boy next door", who was a senior. This was in Savannah, Georgia, which seemed to be full of cops or security guards who were on constant alert for teens making out in cars. Anyway, Robbie had a car and when we were angry with our cruel parents ( : , we'd hop in his car to go to Krispy Kreme and get the baker's dozen. Then we'd drive to the parking lot of a primary school near our homes, stuff ourselves with donuts, and bitch about how maltreated we were by our parents. One night we were gobbling and griping away, when suddenly the car filled with light. It was a cop hoping to stop teens from having premarital sex. Guess he was surprised to find us sitting on opposite ends of the car's seat, our jaws distended with donut.
