Even in the modern world, it's always interesting how the people vary from place to place, even in cities quite close to each other. Naturally Cuba, being a Latin America country with a history quite distinct from that of Mexico, had me looking at everyone and enjoying the variety. The cats are just because I think we wound up with a bunch of cat pictures.  |

Cigarettes (well, they do grow tobacco) and mobile phones and rum (which comes from sugarcane). Someone needs to ask Kerouac the name he gave to the people in parks and in front of hotels who were trying to get online.  Yet more people shots ~ |

Thanks, LaGatta -- I am quite fond of that picture! We did buy some produce here and there, but nothing from that stand as I remember. Thank you, Tod! In the past couple of years I've noted the fad for oversized watches for women in the US and probably other places. But in Cuba, it was the men who wore great big watches, the golder the better. In scrolling down the page again, I see that my little friend Ali (in the school uniform) must be a lefty -- maybe or maybe not in the political sense, but in handedness. |

Bixa, you don't just take photos of people, you steal their souls. The intensity of some of the moments you have frozen in time is more than just point and shoot, more like an essay on them.
