Russia moves on to the quarter finals for the first time ever and Spain is out. This is going to be an unusual World Cup.

I wonder how many fans from afar packed winter coats for their stay in Russia. Wondering that because it is also extremely hot and humid here in Montréal these days.

I don't think that fans are that dumb, even for those of us who do not always have high opinions of certain sports fans. Is there anybody who doesn't know that summer in just about all of Russia is extremely hot and uncomfortable? That is pretty much true for all continents when you are far from the sea. Kalinigrad was one of the only places where it could have been slightly cool, but its 4 matches are already finished.

Goodbye, Mexico, chewed and spit out by Neymar Jr.

Goodbye, Mexico, chewed and spit out by Neymar Jr. Who will get the Oscar nomination for his remarkable portrayal of a man in unbelievable pain when there was no pain at all.

I was reading that he often forgets where he was "injured" and starts holding the wrong part of his body.

Many of them deserve an Oscar, or a wrestling medal.

This had nothing to do with a low opinion of sport fans. Some are utterly remarkable in their recount of statistics, anecdotes and many other aspects of their passion.
I was thinking more of tourists we'd see from the US - and Europe - arriving here in the summer with clothes that were far too warm.
As for the diving, I've seen elderly people seriously hurt by falls on icy streets who moaned far less than these ultra-fit young men, while we were waiting for emergency responders to arrive.

A noticeable lack of tattoos in this match.

You have got to wait until last moment. 3-2 with last goal in the last 30 secs. We started late to play.

Yes, they could have cancelled the first 50 minutes.
But now you have to play Brazil. Oops.

I think that Belgium can dispose of Brazil the same way France did 20 years ago. Of course you will have to lose to France in the final because we have Mbappé.

Why isn't anybody scoring? I'm bored. I guess the Colombians didn't drink enough coffee and the English didn't drink enough tea.

I always forget the frustration of the successive rounds of the World Cup. It all starts with matches every day, some of which are of interest to you and some you don't care about but at least there is always something happening. After the first eliminations, we all have to wait several days for the next round. Luckily, it all starts again tomorrow and then it will become grim.

For our next match some of us ag the office predict a victory of Brazil. I consider them as traitors.

The Swiss, who are justly famous for their chronometers, have calculated that Neymar has spent 13 minutes and 50 seconds lying on the ground during the World Cup so far, having been "injured" 23 times in 4 matches. He is a very unlucky fellow.

He sure does recover quickly then if he has played 4 matches with so many injuries. Must be a really strong-minded fellow.
