Have you heard anything about the "Thomas Cook crisis" during your holiday? I saw in the news the other day that 500 hotels in Spain were closing, because 80% of their clientele was through Thomas Cook. This seems a bit ridiculous to me since most people who book through agencies will just book through another agency and still go to the same place (if it isn't closed).

La Cala is not a Thomas Cook area. There is just one big hotel on the edge of town and one small one in the middle. It is mostly self catering villas and apartments. Might be different in Marbella and Fuengirola though.

It all sounds very lovely Mick - lucky you. You may be pleased to know that the weather here is generally shite.

One of the pleasures of self catering is seeing how out of date the store cupboard is. I thought I’d hit the jackpot with a jar of oregano that expired in 2015 but that was beaten by a jar of curry powder that was out of date in 2010! Happy days!

I would make a truly terrible Airbnb host, because I still have some items in the cupboard from the previous century.

Olivia's is a highly pretentious restaurant on the edge of town much loved by the likes of The Only Way is Essex. The dress code notice gives you a clue.

I was turned away from there because of my Gucci trainers. It happens all the time. I don't know why I bough them.

I have no bloody idea Mick. I'm supposed to be there at Easter, but no idea if that's going to happen now. Then the original plan is to drive there in the summer - likewise but I'm a bit more optimistic that will happen. How long I'll be there etc etc is yet to be determined. I've pencilled it in...........
