Dammit, I'm going to start a thread about this anyway.
1,000,000 tickets have been sold so far, and 300,000 are still available. 75% have been bought be the French (kind of normal for an event in France) and second in line are the Americans.
Tonight I am watching my first match -- France-Norway -- and I really must admit that it is every bit as exciting as watching men play.
Naturally, I must admit that I don't find men's football very exciting either until they get to the semi-finals or the finals, but I understand that there is something wrong with me.

Sweden-USA tonight. It is considered one of the most crucisl matches of the World Cup, because it will decide quite a few up the upcoming matches of the final 8.
It's not really their fault since they are the favourite team for the competition, but they did not make any friends by the way they celebrated their victory over Thailand (13-0), the biggest ever victory in the World Cup.

And so England has made it to the quarterfinals.

Yes, it was very ungracious. And no, this is not out of animus to Trumpland; I'd feel exactly the same if the Canadian side or any other "first world" side acted like that.

I have rarely seen a match more intense than Japan-Netherlands. Since Japan lost, the only non European team in the semi-finals will be the United States.

England crushed Norway last night and tonight the United States will almost certainly crush France. That's normal, because they are both the world and the Olympic champions and have been so for more than ten years.
The French won't really mind losing all that much, because it will be a slap in the face to the Donald. Team captain Megan Rapinoe is the biggest LGBT sports star in the world, and she says she "won't go to the fucking White House," win or lose. Naturally, Trump would like her to lose now.

Looks like the United States is going to clinch the final again as it leads the Netherlands 2-0 in the last five minutes.

And so the United States has won the World Cup again. Second time in a row. Maybe this will console the men's team.

Since France managed to fill just about all of the stadiums for the matches, and the television ratings were just as high as for men's sports, the French are hoping that there has finally been a breakthrough in the French sporting world although equal pay is still a long way off.

Casimira, the US side's star player most certainly isn't! She told him in no uncertain terms where to shove it.
