She turned me onto the idea of getting rimless glasses for my next prescription update. Hubby is getting them, too.
So, does anyone wear this type of eyewear? Do you prefer eyeglasses or contact lenses?

I had some and really liked them, but you have to be gentle with them. Since I take my glasses on & off all the time & since they were cheapies, they did not fare well with me. Not only are they good looking, but you're never aware of light bouncing off the rim or of seeing the edges in your peripheral vision as with framed glasses.

I have a pair as well and I liked them. They fell off a counter and broke recently, but just the lenses.

I hate wearing any kind of glasses. I have contact lenses but only need them at work. I read books without them, work at the computer at home without them but at work I need them. I used to have glasses for this purpose and they annoyed the shit out of me. I can't even wear sunglasses. I find it so irritating having something in my face.

I didn't notice that Palin's glasses were rimless. I noticed the very heavy side-pieces. Which I am now seeing everywhere. And hating.

Hmmmm. Made me go look, Kimby!
She either has more than one pair of glasses, or the heavy side-piece ones are the most recent.
In some pictures she has a style with frames that only enclose the top & bottom, but not the outer sides. In other -- earlier ones? -- the style is frameless but a little too narrow for the width of her face. And you're right about the heavy side-piece ones being off somehow. They are rather sharply rectangular as well.
Probably Aussie, with no political advisors there to make suggestions, will pick out something just right for her face.

I only wear glasses for the computer, so I have normal ones. I do know some people that have switched to rimless glasses and they like them. The only problem, as someone else mentioned, is that they break more easily.

Has she gone back to being Governor of Alaska? Whilst she was an awful politician I thought she was great television last year.

I have worn rimless glasses for years. I can't say that Sarah got the idea from seeing me, because the first passport of her life was issued so recently.

I have recently acquired rimless glasses. I need them for computer work. The advantage was that they could not put plastic lenses because of the absence of rim, so I have proper glass glasses. And they are light enough.
My previous pair had been bought in Switzerland years ago and was starting to hurt on one side of the nose. They are so light, I thought I would not be able to adapt to heavy glasses. The sidepieces are minimalist.

kerou and gyro, LOL!
Well, just bought my frames and now have to hunt down a decent pair for hubby. Iain, I always thought she was better suited for hosting a talk show than politics. Even I would watch that.

I think she'd be a perfect host for a huntin' and fishin' show, perhaps with occasional cooking demonstrations (e.g. what to do with a moose haunch)... Just keep her away from the White House!

After that YouTube video, I'm sure she'd be right at home running a turkey farm.

She IS running a turkey farm - her seccessionist husband, her unwed (and un-fianceed) teen-mother daughter, her late in life "differently-abled" baby boy....

Yes, I read about the un- fianceed bit. What a hypocritical bitch she was. She is the type that gives conservatives a bad name.

I've forgotten there was a time when "conservative" wasn't a bad name.

When I log on and I see this thread I cringe. Even though I know it's content (I think),it rattles me to see the name. Can't help it. It's really a turnoff.
