Yes, it might be a very quiet Christmas again in Europe. Some of the top authorities are still in denial.

My husband called into the Health Unit help line just to ask about when our parents could be booked for their boosters as the on-line portal declined them when he tried entering their information. They were able to look up all of their information for him and proceeded to book appointments for his parents and himself. My in-law's will get their booster this coming Monday and my husband qualifies in December so they booked him an appointment for December 22nd. I am thrilled for them all. I will get my parents card numbers today and he will be able to book them hopefully for next week as well.
We are going for our flu shots tomorrow! I do not qualify yet for my COVID booster but they told my husband that I will probably qualify in January but they have not opened up appointments for then as of yet.
A small number of COVID cases continue daily here daily due to the outbreak at the senior residence. Two people have been hospitalized but for non-COVID ailments which emphasizes the strength of the vaccine. There are high numbers of cases in surrounding Health Units in our region but again, low numbers of people needing to be admitted to hospital.
Happy to read that some of you have received your booster.

I'm in the same case as you, mich. No booster until January -- but I've already had my flu shot.

I'm still a few years short of being eligible for a booster yet in the US Got asked twice today to show my vax proof here in Italy. I liked that they were enforcing it, it was the first time they have for me.

I may be confused over this booster issue, but in reading the travel regulations to some countries, and I can't at this time in a morning remember exactly which (Croatia/Austria?), but they say after 360 days your vaccine proof to enter the country becomes invalid. One has said after nine months. One has said after 6 months from your booster shot you revert to as though having no vaccination. This leaves me in a quandary because if I have a booster 6 months after my last normal jab my get out of jail free card runs out at the same time as the allowance for my normal jab would run out. But if I wait for a booster until just before one year later from my 2nd jab, I have an extra 6 months of 'validity'.
Thus, if I count from the date I had my 2nd jab, add on 6 months and have a booster, add on six months and then what? Get another booster? Try and get a booster every six months to keep travelling without having to show a test result?

It is not at all clear in France either and on top of that, each and every country has its own rules. They are going to need to iron this out, at least in the EU.

With any luck, the covid epidemic will have calmed down a bit another 6 months after this upcoming booster shot? Or am I repeating what Kerouac said in the first post in this long thread?
Yesterday at the gym, the instructor, who works with schoolkids too, told us that they are not allowed to do contact sports indoors again, so no judo, karate. Rugby still being played outside though.
I was surprised to see a news report about the hundreds of Russians arriving in Croatia to get Pfizer vaccines. They have organized charters coming from Moscow to Zagreb. Given how nice Putin is to the EU, I don't see why Russians should be getting free vaccines funded by Croatia and the EU. All those interviewed claimed it was so they could travel to Europe, but obviously they don't trust the Sputnik vaccine.

It would be only the mildest inconvenience for me to get re-jabbed twice a year.

Someone living in France said on another site that even though their official eligibiity for the booster wasn't until the end of December, they went and got a booster with no comment from the officials. Maybe I will look into that. I am not in a particular hurry but I find the date of December 15th still very confusing, when they said that all of the older vaccination passes would expire without the booster, and then they said December 15th + 5 weeks, and then they said that people over the age of 65 were exempt from this date, which makes no sense since all of the reports have said that immunity wears off faster in older people.
I confess that I have not checked the French government website yet to see if they have made everything clear.

When I booked my booster shot on Doctolib, the site did not ask the date of my second shot. I just want to make sure I don't do anything extraordinarily useless. If each booster wears off after six months, there is not much point in getting them early -- it just means needing more and more boosters.

I had my second shot at the beginning of June, so it's not quite 6 months for me (I'm going tomorrow). But since we were threatened with our health passes being deactivated on Dec 15th, I thought I may as well do so. I am not planning to get a new shot every 6 months though.

Hearing all this talk of booster shots I am going to phone our hospital within walking distance, and get the S.A. Lowdown on the position. I must do this because today there was a group of people holding up placards and doing a jig on the sidewalk outside the vaccination centre, Imploring people to get jabbed. It makes me think we have an over abundance of vaccine stock ready to expire soon.

Beginning January 13th, Disney Cruise Lines will be requiring all travelers, age five and up, to be fully vaccinated.

well, good thing i have no interest in disney cruise lines - there are no vaccinations available for children under 12 here, yet ...
as for the boosters, i guess time will tell if they are necessary every six months, ever year, or not at all, in the long run ...

Same in France -- no vaccination for children under the age of 12. But I'm pretty sure they will start soon.

Oz v England cricket in a few weeks, entry only if you have minimum 2 vaccs, This will flush out the "anti vacc because my missus said so" mob. The queues are forming but I think they are too late.

Between now and next June there isn't a month where I'm not going to a different country for one reason or another. Some are repeat visits and I'm trying to keep on top of all the entry regulations. As I've noticed before though, France and Germany have so much information it is difficult to parse it to find out the exact/relevant details. I might be nearly there though with that though. It seems that I can enter France with my EU covid pass without a problem - and as in many countries it doesn't limit the time/months/days of its validity, like Austria and Croatia who have put a limit on it.
But, from Dec 15th all those over 65 with any vaccine, and/or at any age if you have the Janssen vaccine, will have to have a booster for their health pass to be valid. If it isn't then you will struggle to go out anywhere. I do have the TousAntiCovid app which is currently activated but I suspect in the coming months that may change even though I have a two shot jab and under 65. It may end up that I can enter France but not stay anywhere or buy anything until I leave as I drive through it next June - as long also as the other EU apps are still accepted as proof to allow me to enter in the first place. If I get a booster then the problem disappears unless for some reason the French app doesn't accept the German booster code I'd get - which actually is a minimal risk I think.
I've yet to see if the proposed journey next Spring from Sarajevo, through Montenegro to Albania and return via North Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia is worth doing if it's too complicated.

Zero point zero five per cent. It has hardly made a dent in the world's population. In fact with all the attention being given to developing countries' health programs, chances are the birth rates will be higher than usual, there will be more feeding programs and the population increase might also be higher than usual.
So COVID or not I am still in the problem...How can we Save the kids without destroying the planet

Something rather strange going on here. Last night I saw that the 3 French departments with the highest infection numbers are all lightly populated: Landes, where I live, Ardèche and Haute Corse. We are at 265 per 100,000 where a few weeks ago we were at 15. So I don't really understand how this happened.
My husband suggested that one infected person in a crowded situation could infect 50, which would be a high number here, whereas in Paris, with its high population density, it would just be a blip in the statistics.
So perhaps simple case numbers is not the only valid way of measuring covid infections?

So I don't really understand how this happened. On the news that said that in the most rural areas, a lot of people are not paying any attention to masking and distancing -- they think it is an urban thing. And they were also among the first to return to the bise, if ever they had stopped.
