This food item is spreading around the world and might even reach the United States or Mexico, who knows? They are basically soft tortilla wraps treated like panini. They have already overwhelmed France, and it looks like there is no stopping them.
I have actually not eaten one yet, but I think that most of them look pretty good.

I'm pretty sure this subject has arisen before here. I've seen something that looks identical numerous times in Italy sold as "tacos" at kebab-type places. Never tried one, I'm guessing I wouldn't like it. I love the "taco" filled with fries accompanied by a side of fries in the top video. Pure Einstein-level culinary genius there. The nearest Mexican restaurant to me here has burritos with french fries in them. I forget what they call them, I ordered them accidently once and found it gross. Of course I also find the British "chip butty" equally puzzling, starchy fries inside two pieces of starchy bread. Eeeew. And I love fries to a point. But to each their own, just not my personal taste.

A chip butty is a strange Northern thing.
Not something we have down South.

I doubt that I could eat an entire "tacos" but all of the ingredients appeal to me.

Wheat flour tortillas wrapped around hot, damp food objects. Ummm-mmm ~ rubbery and heavy! I'm pretty sure this subject has arisen before here. Yes ~ thank you! Here was my first encounter with this food aberration, in my Toulouse report from 2017. I can't remember if it was before or after seeing this sign that I was served what I suspect might have been a "tacos" on a never-to-be-forgiven Air France flight. I was in premium economy, a better experience than the usual steerage on most airlines. But the entire staff on that flight despised all the passengers. For the last meal of the flight, the flight attendant marched down the aisle flinging a hot, limp thing on our trays. Neither my seatmate nor I could identify it and the best way to describe it would be microwaved Hot Pocket©️.

Should the American fast food chains begin to worry?

Strangely enough there was a very interesting article in New Yorker on French 'tacos' this past week. I would try one for sure. There seems to be enough choices for filling and sauces to please everyone.

Should the American fast food chains begin to worry? In a word: no. The cats stole the show there.

Eleven minutes worth of French tacos. I didn’t make it through the whole video, nor would I’d make it through more than about 1/3 of one of those tacos. Huge! Also, Is Boursin really a cheese, or more a cheese food?

Boursin is processed cheese like Philadelphia or La Vache Qui Rit.

If I'm not mistaken, on Bixa's first evening in Toulouse (what year was that?), she went for a walk and was surprised to see a place selling "tacos". Scroll down a few pictures here

I just spent time looking over your nice thread about Toulouse. A thread that would have been far, far, far less nice if it weren't for you.

When the French Taco Wave crests in Iowa, they'll be wrapped in bacon, then deep-fried. I think I'll call them Freedom Tacos™.

Another review of French tacos in London... but in Arabic make the subject even stranger.

This is a bloke from Manchester who travels around trying takeaway food (mainly). This time he's in Leeds city centre trying a beef steak French taco and a chicken one. He's already just sampled separately chicken and chips and was very happy with it. His accent is quite thick but usually understandable. He gets served at 21:30.
His 'thing' is he always sets up a camping table and chair wherever he is. His review is that it is 'street food heaven' and 'like a flavour disco', also, 'I've got it all over me chops (face). It's probably on three of my chins...' -

I so enjoyed watching these YouTube videos, made me feel like I was away on holiday. Not sure about the Tacos though, they are so big! I do like his enthusiasm about the flavours though.

The French menus and signs say "paninis" too, just like Americans.

The subject will not go away in France. Today on the news, they said that French tacos were beginning to outsell crêpes in Brittany.
I don't understand the people who automatically say they are disguesting. I suppose they are people like me who have not even eaten one yet. The ingredients do not appear to be disgusting at all.

After seeing the same tacos in Lausanne (not called "French" tacos there, however), I thought it was interesting that the new Afghan restaurant on my street sells them, too.
