We have a very talented baker in the family. She is a wedding cake specialist of the "Less is More" decorated wedding cake. Simplicity and style abound in her creations. I wondered if other Anyporter's have photos of their very own wedding cake or a family or friend's cake. In the fridge overnight The moment has arrived. The bride looks happy.

That is really pretty and creative! Besides the precision and artistry in the icing, there must be a certain amount of engineering involved in creating such a perfect tower without smushing the bottom layers.

I don’t have any photos to share, but I do really like the looks of that cake. It’s really lovely in its simplicity.

That's really different from other wedding cakes that I have seen. Of course, the French don't have wedding cakes anyway but a pièce montée instead. For that reason they almost always look identical except for the size, based on the number of guests.

I used to watch The Cake Boss. Some of the drama was provided by fancy cakes being loading into the truck with moments to spare, then filming the face of the driver when he went over a bump, knowing that cake was teetering there in the back.
Your niece certainly pulled triumph from the jaws of disaster! I'm not a fan of that skimmed on icing, but it's a fashion right now & she did a beautiful job.

Well rescued and it is lovely. Lots of wedding cake talk with my son and his partner as they plan to marry next June. So far the jury has voted for a macaron tower.

That would be more like a pièce montée then....

A macaron tower would be very pretty. But have they considered the Italian biscotti tower? This picture (<-- click) is from a site called Ciao Italia, which suggests "Chocolate and Black Pepper Cookies, S Cookies, Rita Ricci's Cookies, Sesame Cookies, Almond Cookies, Sicilian Fig Cookies, and Little Custard Tarts, Anise Cookies" for the tower.

Beautiful! We have a family wedding scheduled for the future, too, and the bride/groom don’t like cake. They’re thinking “wedding pies/tarts." They’re also considering a pièce montée type of thing, plus I just sent them the photo of the Italian Biscotti tower. Looks gorgeous and would certainly appeal to me.

Great! Did you notice that you can click on the picture when it opens & it gets very big? That's when I saw that the little spaces between the cookies have Jordan almonds tucked into them? Darling! I don't think I could be trusted around a biscotti tower.
