For many years Galeries Lafayette was considered to be the most dynamic department store of boulevard Haussmann and it even reached the point where foreign visitors to Paris often visit the city and only visit Galeries Lafayette without setting foot in Printemps. When I was growing up as "small town French" I knew you have to visit both places when you come to Paris because they have a different atmosphere and frankly Printemps was always just a bit easier to afford. Now I consider both of them to be out of reach except during the sales periods (and even then...), but my visit the other day reminded me how much more appealing Printemps is, principally because it is not overrun by foreign tourists even though there is of course no lack of them. And this time I found it more elegant than its neighbour, not as bling-flashy, and if I had not been on a mission, I actually would hae wanted to investigate some of the things being sold. But as you all know, at this time of year my mission is just to take a look at the Christmas windows. This year, they chose a theme that is both traditional and trite but sure to please the children in any case, and isn't that the whole point of this? And so the windows celebrated the circus.

Definitely much nicer than those of Galeries Lafayette.
What is that building on the corner that is covered up -- "Haussmann, votre nouvel emblème"?

It was one of the big yet minor French clothing stores (I have forgotten wwhich one) along the line of 100,000 Chemises or something like that. Just about all of those are gone now and are waiting to become the flagship of one of the international chains.

Nice photos, and the display is certainly more interesting than the one at Galeries Lafayette. I had no idea Printemps has its own rooftop terrace. I’m not sure I’ve ever been inside the store.

Beautifully traditional. I agree, the children should enjoy these window displays.

I also agree I think children would be thrilled by the displays. Myself I love the outdoor views - especially # 4 and 5 in reply no 1. The green lighting is lovely.

Acdtually, I think the adults enjoy them more because they see all of the technical wonders. Many of the children just see a lot of Ferrero Rochers.

Great video & it really shows how the animation made the vision come to life in order to delight little kids.
