The kids are adorable and the lake is gorgeous. Such interesting terrain, too. Is it hot up there on top of the mountain?

The top of Table Mountain certainly didn't look like that when I was there.
And they always tell you to take warm clothing "because the weather can change really fast." Boy, were they right about that!

Wow - great photos Tod. A white sand beach and a lake on the top of the mountain - it must be fairly unique.

I know there's five or six reservoirs up there that were built to supply Capetown. A quick look at some photos and I think that one is Hely-Hutchinson Reservoir.

A most desirable combination of different terrains. Pristine fine white sand and rocky landscape along with its location at an elevated position couldn't be more appealing.
I'm guessing that the elevation levels lend to varying temperature fluctuations requiring layers of clothing at different times of the day on into the evening and night. And likely a fabulous location for star gazing!
Is there lodging nearby or is it close enough to take a day trip for the family? I imagine there would be a campground close by.
The nieces and nephews seem to be really enjoying the lake.
Thanks for sharing this with us Tod.

The top of Table Mountain certainly didn't look like that when I was there. You were with all the tourists that arrive from the cable car - Miles away from the (lakes/resevoirs) this is still a very unused arrival at the top.
