She sent quite a few videos but I don’t seem to be able to post them. You'll need to upload them to Youtube first, then it's easy. It'll take a bit if you've got a slow internet connection, obviously.

I was going to make the same recommendation. In any case, it's faster than growing cactus.

I used to upload videos on 56kb/s dial-up, I usually let the upload run while I slept as it could take a few hours.

There should have been at least one meeting room photo or something or it looks like she never works.

They can’t fly over Russia so go further North. Adds a couple of hours to the flight.

They can’t fly over Russia so go further North. Adds a couple of hours to the flight. Before all of these situations, one time we stopped in Moscow going to Tokyo. On the way back we stopped in Anchorage. In those days, it was still too far to fly non stop.

The shots from the plane window are stunning, I wish I could still be content in a window seat because I adore looking out the window flying when it's light out. At least I no longer get all the dirty looks from people wanting to sleep.

I actually went up the Tokyo Tower on one of my trips. It is actually just a bit taller than the tower that inspired them somewhere else in the world.

I think I’d get lost a lot unless I could find some directions written in English.

It is written in English. You get the indications in Japanese then it switches to English.

The first time I went to Tokyo, I took the subway a lot, and there were maybe about 10 route maps on the station platform but only one in the Latin alphabet. And the ticket machines were the same. They were all in Japanese, and you had to find the decoding list somewhere in tha station. So I carefully plotted my route and never dared to stray.
I hear that it has all changed now. They took pity on us.

My husband went to Japan in 1990. Whenever he had to take the subway on his own, he was told to count the number of stops to the one he needed since the names were only in Japanese.

Fabulous pictures, Mick -- so interesting!
When I went to the beginning of the thread I realized that the first part is not new, and couldn't figure out how I missed it. Then I looked at the date. That was the very beginning of March, so I had just moved & was in the middle of unpacking, etc., plus had no wifi. Apologies for not responding back then, but I honestly just never saw it.
I take it Sensoji temple is a major site for tourists. Either that or the Japanese are extremely pious. That's quite a crowd. Any idea what the rope thing is in the picture right above that of koi?

Isn't that rope thing supposed to be Buddha's sandal or something?

It’s one if the sandals the monks wore apparently.

Wonderful photos Mick, is this the daughter that works for the company that makes those lovely handbags?
I had to travel during my career but never lucky enough to leave Ontario let alone leave the country. I think I would have enjoyed doing that.
Speaking of not being able to read the signs in the metro, we had difficulty in of all places, Ireland last year! Irish Gaelic was tough! We took the line from Dublin out to the suburbs, Malahide and Skerries, we had some giggles trying to figure out where to get off.
