Thé verandah had an awful roof non insulated. and we destroyed part of the original wall to get more light and volume. There was an ugly fireplace- unnecessary after insulating. The original kitchen. Kitchen. As was. The bathroom Chamber in the back Hall of entrance The verandah before I started destroying the wall

The verandah with the new roof. Some insulation here. A new floor covers the old ones. View from the back of the verandah towards the kitchen. It as a good idea to change the loo The entrance : repainted and with more light. Upstairs : the 2 front rooms. The bathroom. The chamber in the back. A new stairs towards the attic. I created most of the opening in what was a concrete slab. What we call a palier in French… The new room in the attic. Big volume. And a new bathroom.

That's certainly an improvement! It looks so much lighter.
Those old tiles on the kitchen floor -- there must have been a company that had a monopoly on those beige tiles with little brown squares. They are everywhere in France in houses and apartments built in the 1950s or 60s.

We brought light by removing walls and making openings in the attic.

Very nice! I love the black, and what I call, walnut stained wood accents/cupboards/floors, or is the wood actually walnut? Bright and airy. I also like how you kept some of the brick inside, for example, the arch.
We renovated our condo bathroom this summer and I remember how good it felt when all was completed and when I go in there it makes me smile. I just love new bright spaces. I imagine you and your family smiling a lot too.

What a remarkable difference! It's not just better, it's a whole new feel to the place and very artful. You did a magnificent job. In the picture right under this caption: "What we call a palier in French…", is that a temporary support for something? Also what is that thing on the floor it's setting on?

Palier means landing ! The wood piece is a support to the roof structure and i don't understand why the kept the piece of wood at the bottom instead of making something beautiful The walnut color is not walnut wood it is either paint or the color of the flooring, a pressed wood made water resistant by adding a varnish (after painted it). I should add that i did nothing all the ideas come from my wife. As well as the money ! That belongs 100pc to her.
