It's hard to get excited about threads that consist of nothing but a link. Nevertheless, on the assumption that we all appreciate good photography and the chance to be inspired, I have to share this article. As you'll see, it is particularly meaningful to me because the photographer & her subjects are Zapotec people. As a plus, the text is remarkably insightful and sensitive. www.newyorker.com/culture/photo-booth/the-power-of-portraits-with-hidden-faces

Some of these are great, but I am not sure that I agree with the idea. I think I would have preferred a mix of portraits and "non portraits."

Don't you find that is often the case with themed shows by an artist? It's maybe a thing of getting too much at one time, which would not be the situation without the theme.

Interesting theme and some fabulous photos in that thread Bixa. Co-incidentally my sister posted a fab image of her grandson today -- his mum and dad don't allow any facial photos on social media . Even so it actually captured his mood more than a full frontal one would have done, I think .

That is a lucky coincidence! It is interesting to think that his posture or gesture is something that might last throughout adulthood, as such things tend to do.

Very counter to the times where everyone plasters their mugs across the internet as much as possible. Vain young people won't be along for this.
