So I'm half way through painting the deck, my hands are blue, same color as the paint. How do I get it all off? Oh and the bottom of my feet are blue too, as I walked around bare feet on the paint by mistake. This painting lark is more complicated then I thought it would be!
I wanted to surprise my boy friend and my son when they get back from the UK. Show them that I do in fact have some more hidden talents that they do not know of! At least I had a good CD of Rod Stewart songs to keep me company.
How's your summer coming along so far?

paint!*sigh* I just paid my rent, thus marking three months in this house, and I still havent't painted the living room. I would rather dig the Panama Canal than paint. Deyana, try "washing" your hands and feet in vegetable oil or baby oil, and follow that up with dish detergent and a stiff brush.

Bixa, I'll try that, someone told me to wipe my hands/feet/legs with gasoline as well....just have to make sure I wash thoroughly with soap and water after.
Painting inside is not much much I agree, I've left my 15 year old boy to do his own room, it's half done now.
The thing is the summers are kind of short around here, so I'm trying to do as much as I can before the snow starts falling again.

Oh, I admire you greatly! I just sort of hate myself for putting off and putting off this task. It means other things, like real decorating aren't getting done. I have all the paint & the equipment, I just loathe doing it.

Deyana, if you take off the paint with vegetable or cooking oil, you don't need to use gasoline. The disadvantage of using white spirit or turpentine is that it is hell on your skin.

Hydrocarbons de-fat the skin, or take away all the oils. If you've used gasoline, apply any of the oils bixa mentioned above, or any kind of pure lotion or oil.

Riky..um...no I don't think so. spindrift, yes I chose it after all! And now I have time to do all the painting I want, I had to cut my trip short, I'll PM you the details. bixa, you wouldn't be admiring me if you could see me now! I still have blue on parts of my body, it's embarrassing... O.K. I put the wrong kind of oil on, I used Olive oil instead. I guess I better wash that off and get the vegetable oil out...let you know how it goes... Thanks the tips ladies.

I always use white spirit but it does dry out the skin....I had no idea that oil would remove oil-based paint...but does it really?

Don't wash off the olive oil -- it works even better than ordinary vegetable oil. I confirm that it works -- I have been doing that for years.

Well, I'm not sure if it was the kind of paint I was using or what, but the Olive oil didn't work at all. The vegetable oil worked somewhat, but I had to scrub it all off too after wards. Most of the paint is gone, but a few stubborn bits remain.
I still have a lot of painting left to do, I will be using gloves from now on!

I practically burned myself getting in the car yesterday. It had been sitting in the sun all afternoon and the thermometer read 39°.

That is hot Kerouac. It's been quite a rainy summer here this year. In a way I preferred it this way, the heat of last years summer was too much...

I guess we're having a drought. It's the height of the rainy season, but no rain. Beautiful deep blue skies bring despair.

It's hard to believe what our weather is like. WV is temperate, but I remember many blistering summers here, growing up. So far, this summer has been cool and it is drizzling right now. The temps have stayed in the low 70s, (sorry, don't know how to convert) and down to the 50s at night. Unheard of! I'm sure not complaining, tho. Any day I can open my windows and enjoy a cool breeze is a good day.

Sounds like last summer in Paris (and the summer before that!). This year we are having a 'normal' summer so far. *knocks on wood*

We are having the most awesome weather right now. The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing and yesterday, I saw the most beautiful sunset. I'll take a photo of the one this evening and post it on here.
