Spring has sprung. From my desk I can see two plum trees blossoming in the garden. Our neighbour - a builder - is taking the day off and is probably digging his vegetable garden. This is a sure sign of spring.

We are having definite March weather. Unstable and often unpleasant.

Still snowing here. March has come in like a lion. I look forward to cuddling up to the lamb in a few weeks.

What other nice feelings like this do you appreciate ? I'm thinking about it. But there's nothing quite like it I fear... I haven't got into it yet, will have to wait until May/June, when the rains come. There's a palpable feeling of happiness in the air then. Right now it's just getting hotter and hotter every day.

The mimosas are just coming into flower - about three weeks late.

The mimosas around here (southwest France) all suddenly bloomed last week. All the little wild plum type trees are starting too.

Last evening heard the Red Eyed Vireo call. He passes through every spring, very elusive,I,ve never seen,my husband has once. Also known as the "Preacher Bird" because of his distinctive call. Voracious insectivores. Sure sign of spring.

This is a wonderful site to listen to bird songs. They're all North American birds, but some people will enjoy hearing how birds they've read about sound.

Two tom turkeys were gobbling, strutting and displaying for 11 hens in our yard. What ridiculous looking birds!
And it's snowing AGAIN!

If the turkeys have decided that it is spring, there is nothing that the world can do about it.

That may be true for Parisian turkeys, Kerouac, but we could still get 2 feet of snow here. Last year it snowed in June!

4 inches of fluff this morning (the ski bums call it pow-pow). Slow traffic into town. Getting antsy for spring. So are the robins who arrived weeks ago and are probably not happy with our continued winter weather.

The electronic board in front of my apartment actually said 20° in mid afternoon (although I don't think the official temperature got higher than 16° which is already pretty damned good at this time of year).

I had a wonderful 2 hour stroll through the Chilterns countryside, watched a woodpecker going about his business for maybe 20 mins. Wonderful.

Gorgeous day outside but still a day to spend inside. There's a nasty cold wind blowing that goes through everything.
