I appreciate the spring is in the air feeling and the beautiful daffodils outside our flat, they make me smile each time I come round the corner and see them.
I also get a warm happy glow when evil boss from hell is out of the office and we can all breath in our own unique manner, without getting unwanted guidance from "He Who is Illogical and Inconsistent but Who We Must Mind-Read and Obey".
Jumping into a swimming pool or the sea gives me the spring feeling too.

Spring is not in the air temperature today, even though it remains sunny. But at least the sun is coaxing the leaves to jump out of the naked branches.

The first official day of spring and at my house the first signs are poking through winter's mantle. Crocus and daffodil greens 1 inch tall (no flowers for awhile yet), Kerouac's "sprouts" will soon be on the trees - the buds are swelling. Robins have taken up residence, though what they're eating I can't imagine as I haven't seen any insects yet and the ground is too frozen for extracting earthworms. Squirrels are chasing each other in pairs, quite entertaining. But since it's still winter (other than on the calendar) here, think I'll go skiing this weekend. Spring skiing, light clothing, slushy snow, lots of fun.

I have celebrated the start of spring with some wonderfully refeshing wheat beer from Grolsch, and a delightful ale from the local Grain Brewery called Harvest Moon.
Next up; Marstons Old Empire Pale Ale, and some Danish Blue cheese and sherry to finish ....

Happy Nowruz!
I envy everybody who can experience spring. We've still got at least 6 weeks before the rains come.

We have a storm system all around us,seems to have stalled out. Last night we had SOO much rain, haven't heard any totals yet but I'm sure some low lying areas flooded.More on the way...Generally, I love a good springtime thunderstorm but I believe my former fondness for this much rain is forever gone. Had a very topsy turvy night.

Yesterday I had to dig my car out of the snow, only to find all the door locks were frozen shut. Except the rear hatch. So I climbed over two rows of seats to the drivers seat and drove into town where I parked in the sun. A few hours later when I returned to the car, the locks were thawed so I could enter the car the normal way.
Spring hasn't sprung here yet. Sigh. Highs in the 30's to mid-40's (F), lows in the teens. Should be pushing 60. Drier and cooler spring than normal is the forecast for the Northern Rockies... ;-(

The hyraxes got sort of scary in their 'friendliness' at Tsavo National Park in Kenya. I might go looking for the photos some day.

Had a fantastic afternoon today in the sun with a workbench and a piece of ash, slowly trying to convince it to turn into a longbow.

Still looks like Christmas Eve around here. I am SO ready for spring. But one more ski trip left in April, so I guess I'm glad for the 25 inches of snow the mountains got this week. Not so glad about the 6 inches I had to scrape off the car this morning...

For all my carrying on about 68F and migratory birds, blooming flowers etc. to all of you in the still cold, barren lands, come June when you're in glorious sunshine,I will be on this board carrying on about the sweltering, sticky, hot miserable temperatures here. Heck,it'll be May!We have a very, very brief "spring".

And I was just thinking that for our friends in the southern hemisphere it is autumn, and they have no warming and greening up to look forward to. SAD is on the way.
