Yes, I know it could perceived as being a bit hypocritical as I often moan about weather threads, but it's not really ....
Twice in the last few days, I have really felt the change of spring in the air and it is a wonderful feeling.
What other nice feelings like this do you appreciate ?

That is a lovely post, gyro. In Paris today, the weather was not as nice as yesterday, but the imminence of spring was still perceptible.

I don't know about ironic, but March is really living up to the proverbial coming in like a lion thing today. Yesterday was calm & blue. Today is much colder, cloudy, and you can almost see the wind blowing as in illustrations for children's books. Instead of joyfully celebrating it by flying a kite, though, I'm taking advantage by washing clothes & hanging them on the line.

Spring is here too ! Well, at least it was on Saturday. It was lovely weather and I was even hanging out in my hammaca for half an hour saturday afternoon. Since yesterday, our back yard is snow free. The first time since end of november.

All last week it was what people expect Mediterranean weather to be: sun, cloudless blue skies. Spring is late this year (still no mimosa blossom) and has now retreated. A cool northwest wind is bringing clouds and some drizzle.

Appreciate it.

Bird houses??? Bird houses??? Will have to ask my mom, I know nothing about bird houses. We have bird feeders, well not us, because Luc would love to catch a bird in his lifetime, but I do not know of people building, or growing bird houses.
Will get back to you.

Really?! I would have thought it was a big thing there. This is a nifty site, but it's for North American birds. I imagine there are little feather South African friends that would accept some of these abodes. You could also contact whatever govt service in your area that might have info on this. My neighbors gave me a birdhouse for Christmas & I was beyond charmed.

Like that one, right now I would appreciate a nice glass of martini I guess.
I dont know why, spring makes me thing about martini and well-dressed glowing women, their laughs, and the sea salt on their skin.
ahem. bye.

the mean thing is, that there is nice weather always on days i am very busy - and makes me think i want to start actually using my new bike for some cycling tours. and then when i finally have time, it is raining again. but it is nice that the birds sing.

Twice in the last few days, I have really felt the change of spring in the air and it is a wonderful feeling. What other nice feelings like this do you appreciate ?Not to be too hokey, but I find that random acts of kindness directed towards me can lift my spirits all day. It can be something as simple as a gratuitous compliment. And sometimes I see opportunities to give back that good feeling, whether it's passing someone that peso or two they need at the cash register, or speaking pleasantly to someone who looks glum.

We don't have birdhouses here. We have trees. Besides the birds being perfectly delighted to find a space that's just right for their needs, there are other reasons to put up birdhouses. If the property and planting naturally attract birds, you can attract even more species of birds by providing different types of bird houses plus feeders and bird baths. Proper placement will allow the birds to feel safe and for you to easily observe them from your patio or terrace.

Is there an option to close a thread because it's not going the way I wanted it to, but I am definitely NOT sulking or flouncing about it, honest ?

I want credit and slobbering gratitude for fully and sincerely answering your OP in the proper spirit in my reply #23.
Your not responding to my open-heartedness forced me to return to the subject of bird houses.
Anyhow, this is a nice thread. Maybe some nice people will come along and post correctly and nicely in it.
