We had our first big rain on Saturday. It took 5 minutes to turn the boulevard in front of our office into a raging torrent! I hope that cleaned and cleared the drains.

a change of sun and clouds and it might even rain a bit. About 17 degrees. Typical april weather but over all not too bad.

Every time I see the thread title I think of that song, 'Spring is in the air, every time I look around'... from the 80s I think.

Spring is in the air, smoke is in the air. It took me 3 days of non-stop bonfire to get rid of all the dead branches and pine cones in the yard.
But it was very pleasant being outside so much after being cooped up indoors most of the winter (except ski days).
The daffodils are peaking now, and I'm finding a few crocuses that escaped the planter beds and have taken up residence along the creek, all on their own. Sweet.

Oh, no! It's SNOWING! Again! After several gorgeous spring days.
Last snow last year was on June 10th...sigh...

You get our French weather when we're done with it, rikita! -- except when those awful things come straight down from Scandinavia.

BigIain is referring to the idea that I disparaged another site during a digression. Although it is not true, there seems to be some sort of moral conflict that escapes me.

Well, usually the weather comes from the West in Europe, but every now and then it comes from the North. That is never good news. And extremely rarely from the South, which is what we would like sometimes if we can avoid a 40° heatwave.

K2 means where the good and the bad weather comes from. Cold usually from the north or the northeast, warm usually from the west or southwest. Haven't you heard of the 'Azorenhoch', Rikita?

Very sorry. I didn't do it on purpose, it's something I can't control very well and it's got me into deep shit on occasions.
Anyway, here it's getting more bearable, slightly overcast, there's a shower nearly every evening now. Unfortunately my statement further up, that the drains would be flushed by the first rains, turned out to be wishful thinking. After every rain, just 30- 45 minutes usually, the road is flooded for an hour. Will bring my camera and take some pix.

The song of the giant cicada (Mexican Spanish: chicharra) is supposed to signal the beginning of the rains here. We've got big gray clouds and the cicadas are deafening, but no rain yet. www.texasento.net/Cicada.htm Song starts at :10. Turn it WAY up to get the true effect.
