You realize that new members are only here on probation? There is an initiation. You must be photographed eating ten (10) items of your choosing from this thread.

I don't know why, but the first thing that strikes me as repulsive on some of these items is when they mix fish and meat. God knows there are plenty of other things to be repulsed by.

Interesting you should say that. I've always found "surf and turf" platters to be unappealing. Besides, there is something so childish about them. "Look, I can have the two most expensive things on the menu at the same time!" All it lacks is a banana split on top to complete the babyish thrill.

What strikes me on many of the pics on this thread is not so much the fish+meat, it's the sheer size of the things.

What, Bjd ~~ you were under the impression that these delicacies were created by and for those with a subtle appreciation of food -- people who'd be content with one sublime mouthful? ;D

Shopsin’s Mo’betta A maple bacon and egg sandwich on mac and cheese pancakes from Shopsin. --> www.shopsins.com/“This, my friends, is the king of breakfast sandwiches. Maple bacon and eggs on pancakes? And mac & cheese pancakes at that–it’ down right inspired. Add just a touch of maple syrup and you have sweet and salty perfection.”

"Turducken" always struck me as a repulsive, ostentatious concept, beginning with its unfortunate name.

Yep. That name reminds me of something I guy I knew used to say about any funny term or name: "Sounds like something you'd do with a monkey ............. in a suitcase."

Back to the chocolate covered bacon...the only thing abominable about it is the sprinkles. And maybe the "on a stick" presentation. Chocolate and bacon (in very small quantity) is a truly wonderful flavor. Really. I will never be able to appreciate a turducken. As I make Thanksgiving the one day of the year when I step away from my avoidance of poultry, I think it would kill me if I ate 3 types of poultry at once. Seriously.

If they were gonna test launch the damn thing, why wouldn't they use the wide-open part of their yard instead of the long narrow window-lined walkway? Idiots. Plus they wasted some damn fine looking bacon in the process.
