Well Don, We are splurging on an Argentinian prawn meal on Sunday! The prawns are gigantic and I grilled a few last night just to check the quality. I hate those rubbery prawns that never seem to be cooked. These were OK and the flesh nice an soft.
The lunch will be Sunday midday - Korean BBQ style or maybe even Singapore BBq style seeing we bought the contraption there! I have a whole beef fillet to slice up and also going to serve some thinly sliced Kudu.

THe Argentine meal was extravagant. The food was overall great, the service attentive, but I didn't like the feeling of being rushed to order, the crowding of tables and the general hyper feeling. We started with Espágos Trigueros, a superb dish and then very well made jugo de carne. My wife had an attractive Pulpos a Las Brasas. We then ordered a large steak, a perfectly grilled Bife de Chorizo, which was magnificent although not quite as tender and juicy as we wished. But we had no trouble eating about half. The other half we took home. The meal concluded with a double espresso, as we had no room for dessert.

A much lighter, yet very satisfactory seafood meal today. I started with some almejas chocolates y rojas. Then Botana de Mariscos mixtos. This was meant to be shared. the clams not so. We drank a cerveza Pacífico each and shared a nearly unsweetened limonada.

yesterday i shared a pizza with someone else from our climbing group, at the climbing gym. the days before it was leftovers. today we have agnes' party and as it starts in the morning, lunch is included, we have sausages (won't eat any of those), cheese cubes, fruit, bread, hummus, might buy a couscous salad (a friend was supposed to bring pasta salad, but she canceled, she offered to just bring the salad but since she lives quite a bit away i said it is okay)

Lunch was a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich, on whole wheat bread, in the van. Then, a Magnum ice cream bar and a bottle of peach nectar, at a Happy Go rest stop.

was in the office today, so went to the cafeteria with some colleagues. neither i nor one of my colleagues could make up our minds between the spinach-potato-mozarella baked in the oven, and the turkey with rice and lemon-pepper sauce, so each got one of htem, and then shared ...

You are so lucky to have an office cafeteria Rikita. Usually the meals cost a lot less than if bought in a cafe`. Good idea to share!

actually, it is not our office's cafeteria, it belongs to a different office, but is public (actually it belongs to a ministery) - the area has a lot of companies there, and some of them have cafeterias, this is the one closest by (just across the street) ... it is practical and as you say, a lot cheaper than going to a restaurant or café.

Rikita, that cafeteria food sounds tasty and nutritious. Can anyone go?

i think so - at least they never ask where we come from or who we are ... i suppose tourists could go, too, if they knew where it is and don't mind the cafeteria atmosphere ...

At lunchtime, not at all. There used to be a tradition of GOOD cafeterias and "buffets des gares" (at railway stations). The one in Florence is divided into a McDo and other crap now. Yes, of course there are cafeterias at large department stores (obviously in Berlin) but those can be pricy.

well if you are ever in berlin, then you could go also to the one of the film and tv academy in the sony center, they are a bit more expensive but seem to have nice food (i went there only once, though), and then step onto their balcony to have a look at the view ...

Oooh! I'm stuffed. Sunday lunch was baby boiled potatoes, a lettuce, onion and tomato salad with grilled haloumi cheese bites and a French dressing, the main star being kebabs made with rib-eye steak and marinated for a short while in Teriyaki, and a cheese and jalopeno sauce on the side. I opened a bottle of "sparkling wine" as I love fizzy stuff.

I made potato salad, perhaps with too much mustard for most people, but I liked it.

I had an appointment downtown yesterday and afterward went for lunch at a restaurant I've been frequenting for a number of years now.
I have made friends with the oyster shuckers and we were all delighted to be together after some weeks absence. Lots of joking and laughing, I always leave there not only sated by the food but the company of these gentlemen is a real treat as well.
Anyway, I was treated to a tray of oysters, jumbo boiled shrimp, mussels, clams and a fabulous ceviche. (all accompanied by a variety of condiments)
I then had a bowl of crawfish bisque, French bread and butter.
Pilsner Urquel to wash it down.

Lunch at El Mandil Buffet, on the outskirts of Pátzcuaro. We were with two old friends. The place was alive with many customers, this being Constitution Day. Although I wasn't terribly fond of a Cream of Calabacita soup, some appetizer size tacos of chorizo al pastor were notable, especially with a picante salsa verde. I had some rice, some alambres (sort of a Mexican stir fry), and a chile relleno without the usual tomato broth. Also a couple of small but tasty pork ribs.
