Is it crass to say that would be a great time to go as the pound's value swirls down the toilet?

The general thought among my mob is that UK got a few shovels and dug a muddy hole, Then the more they tried to dig their way out, the bigger and deeper the hole became. Instead of joining forces and problem solving their predicament, they started throwing the mud at each other, deepening the hole they were in. Onlookers were amused at first, but then they realised the hole could engulf them as well.
The question is...will they stop digging and work together to build a ramp to get them out of the hole?

Actually listening to the pundits on the TV it sounds as if she will cling on, however she has said she will go before the next election which should quieten the mob down. i say mob because our current politicians are the most useless, sorry bunch of arseholes. Most have them have too much ego and not enough common sense..
One big problem is that the vast majority wanted to stay in Europe, the gravy train was too attractive. So now they are doing all they can to disrupt the process while paying lip service to the Leavers. Leaving the EU should have been done and dusted over a year ago, with no payout to them, they do us no favours and never have.

One of the problems of the EU is not dumbing the information down enough for the citizens. Technocrats can only speak technobabble. I find the signs on projects much easier to understand like an expressway project where the construction sign says "financed 50% by the EU, 30% by the national government and 20% by the regional authority." But lots of things don't have signs on them, so we generally remain ignorant about exactly what the EU has paid for health care, education programmes and other things like that.

I amazed to hear there is such a movie. When I saw the video on the page, I figured it was just some satire mash-up, but no -- it's real history. Can't believe how much some of those actors look like the weaselly principals they're playing.

Mick, do you know what the issues are between the yes and no votes?
I was listening to reports this evening calling for another non-confidence vote yet her Party Members that voted no on the vote today will still vote yes to support Theresa May? The news reports we see here are so general and never get into specifics of what about the deal she is proposing is unacceptable and what it is that they hope her to achieve in the departure agreement?

Well, that certainly clarified much of what was confusing to me. Thank you for that Patrick.
I have a difficult time keeping up with all this mess here in the US and often times I intentionally avoid knowing as I get so worked up. Denial can be an excellent defense mechanism.
That being said I do wish I had listened to the news here the day before yesterday so that I could be aware of Trump being here in NOLA as I was out and about schlepping and got tangled up in a cluster f**k of traffic because of. Just being within proximity of the devil incarnate was awful enough.

Thank you for posting the links to better understand the issues!
I made a mistake posting Elizabeth May instead of Theresa May in an earlier post. Elizabeth May is the Leader of the Green Party and a Member of Parliament here in Canada so I am assuming that is where my thinking was when I made that error.

Bixa, you are far too late to see the sun set on the British Empire, that happened over 50 years ago.
Now the country itself is in meltdown because of some grand egos, matching the one you have over your side of the pond. Our Westmonster bubble thought they would throw a bone to the rabble in the shape of the referendum on leaving the EU, in which they were convinced 'Project Fear" would easily swing it for them to show us ingoramuses what a wonderful institution the EU was. It backfired badly and they have been squabbling among themselves ever since and trying to disguise their frantic attempts to frustrate the result. For myself the sooner we walk away from the whole corrupt Junker organisation the better, and I wouldn't even offer39 pence, let alone £39 million, to top up his wine fund.

Ahhhh, Mossie. It is your country and of course your opinion formed over many years. Thus, I respect you and have to respect your opinion. As a foreigner, I'm sure there are untold things I'll never know, but honestly, it just seems as though the whole history of Europe shows that the EU is just a better idea for everyone.
