Marine's good friends Putin and Orban could have helped her out.
Hey, let's invade France!
A journalist I've known for decades now has the plum Paris beat at Radio-Canada. Fortunately they haven't assigned him to Ukraine yet;

We're hearing them here, too, on Radio-Canada.
As for supper, yesterday I roasted a smallish turkey leg (thigh and drumstick). I also have some very good small frozen gombos, would like to make some kind of sauté/braise, but don't want a heavy roux. A few potatoes, yes. Obviously onion and garlic.
Ideas?

Why on earth would Black Frenchpeople vote for that racist? I know there was unrest a few years ago because of the high cost of living (many essential goods shipped in from France) but Le Pen fille certainly doesn't give a shit about "those people".

Wine, coffee, no problem now.
Quite a few people I know have been down with the latest variant.

The Vietnamese grocery near me has very good fresh salmon, at a reasonable price. Obviously Livia gets a bit. She also flips out if chicken or duck livers are in the kitchen. Livia is a dainty little lady and doesn't overeat. But she was a street kitten, so she has that killer instinct.

I still don't understand how I survived, hospitalised and confined with no wine and no decent coffee - also very little food as the fare was disgusting.
I'm making empanadas now... about to turn in - it is only 21h/9pm...

It is ridiculous that there aren't more polling stations here. Fortunately, our French expats tend to skew young, but I have friends in their 70s who voted.

I'm a keen public transport geek, and have a special spot for tram lines. Moreover, I dearly hope that I'll be in decent shape for a return to Paris, among other reasons to see two of my dearest friends who are both over 80 (but in splendid shape, as of now). Not a couple.

I've never heard that from any Canadian, whether anglophone, francophone or allophone, but many places, urban or rural, have their particularisms.

Isn't Benelux a trade agreement?(largely superceded by the EU).
The Italian monarchy was abolished by referendum, largely because the reigning monarch under fascism approved the Hitlerian 'racial laws'.
I do with the peoples of Spain would follow suit. I'm less familiar with the relation beteen the Greek monarchy and the postwar dictatorship.
These people (don't forget the Saudis!) remain the world's richest welfare cases.

Well, a lot of people, male or female, straight or gay, say "my ex". I view the very short, brutal descriptor as a way of expressing finality, though you never can tell with humans.

I've been to Croatia and Slovenia (no Melania) but just for daytrips with friends from northeastern Italy. Lovely places; still Yugoslavia back then.
I hope to be able to travel again someday. I'm still doing physio. Not going anywhere unless I'm fully ambulant. Doubtless to see old friends in France and Italy more than anything else.

It's still winter today. A year ago it was springtime on the same date. Not terribly cold but still some frigging snow. I hate it. And no, I don't think it's charming. The only positive aspect is that it will all melt soon as the days are much longer and the sun much stronger. Livia hates it at least as much as I do..

This can vary between countries, due to market variations. Both K2 and Mich strike me as prudent shoppers. Due to allergies etc, there are some items for which I prefer certain brands and specific products.

No problem with stairs any more.
Any pizza and most other things near San Marco are grossly overpriced and gross, period.
Ordinary people in northeastern Italy and neighbouring regions were more likely to subsist on polenta.
