What a fabulous exhibition! I loved the still photos better than the video. My grandsons would absolutely adore to go to something like that.

Yes, what a pic! I want to know if those green unfurling leaves are a type of fern? Bracken?

I think you have got it worked out perfectly Whatagain! Working, sightseeing then working again. Your photos brought back many good memories of our trip in a motorhome 42 years ago. We criss-crossed the Rhine all the way down as we headed back to Frankfurt. I was hoping maybe you also arrived at the entrance to Schloss Johannisberger. A favourite wine of mine.

Ha Ha you two! We have left a candid and honest bad review I think only twice in three years but feel unless the guest is absolutely awful it is better to say nothing or very little...which in my mind alludes the prospective host to a reason why not much was said. Good guests get glowing reports which in itself is a good advertisement that it's a prime spot .....even for ghastly people!

Casimira - my favourite uncle grew carnations. I wasn't enamoured with them because I was a stupid 13yr old and did not appreciate the trouble he went to. For instance a special wire frame supports the flower as it is so heavy it cannot cope. All this fuss made no appreciation for me, but I do remember the smile he got when a flower was perfect and the perfume so sweet. RIP dear Uncle Herbert.

Bixa & htmb - They were upperclass Joburgites (haling from Johannesburg) all in their 20's or so. A mix of two men and two women. Unfortunately after their initial Air BnB stint, they wanted to stay on for another couple of weeks as business was good , so we did a private deal. The unit was always left in a total state of chaos and this made it very difficult for the maid who had to change linen once a week. Yes, we could have terminated their stay but their American boss from Knoxville only appeared once to view the room and once he stayed over in another unit on his own. But this would have been a major upheaval as he had a contract with a mall in our area. To be fair on him we chastised them and told them to pull their sox up or we would ask them to leave. So they stayed on and lived like pigs in shit and burnt my Jamie Oliver pots to blackened ruin. Yesterday took 4 hours to clean and get it habitable for the next guest, who arrived to check in only an hour after we had finished cleaning! Then as they were due to leave we had the missing money incident. Never again.

The worst day of the new week! It has been Workers Day on 1st May BUT no, our government has to give an extra day because the holiday fell on a Sunday. Pathic. OK Fine , my grandkids still went to school because they are in a Private School who does not recognise any holidays - Good for them. But that's not my beef. I have had guests in my lodgings since April. Horrible squalid individuals. Filthy is a term I could recognise. Just when they were about to leave an issue came up about missing money. They questioned me in my own home whether I had entered their room. I was on my patio enjoying a glass of bubbly. I was at a loss, but eventually realised they were trying to put the blame on me. I told them in no uncertain terms I was having none of it and they should shove off. When eventually my husband showed up, he admitted the comsultant had handed him the money. If my phone had not run out of AirTime I could have confirmed this. So it goes...

AMSTERDAM - South Africa Part of a Scottish settlement established by Alexander McCorkindale in 1868, it was proclaimed a town in June 1881. At first called Roburnia, in honour of Scottish Poet Robert Burns, the name was changed on 5 July 1882 to Amsterdam, after the Dutch city where the State Secretary, Eduard Bok, was born, and out of gratitude for Dutch sympathy during the First Anglo-Boer War (1880-1881).

Magnificent display of colour Kerouac!
Whatagain - your azalea is truly spectacular. My azalea hedge puts out flowers in amongst the leaves so never looks that good.
Bjd - Those Bearded irises you showed us are exactly what I saw in Parc Floral many years ago. It means that they are giving a display right now!
Bixa - All I can say is wow and wow again! What a special flower.

Thank you for enlightening me Kerouac. I suppose we have had so much rot going on here since the 1994 democratic elections, all outside news of places like Ukrain & Russia were way at the back of the news bulletins. I never realised Putin has been unpopular for so long but clings to power protected by his henchmen. Such a familiar scenario here in Africa.

Whatagain I commiserate with you and family. I think the revealing of their private parts would definitely detract from the enjoyment of the dancing and choreography simply because it seems from what you say that it was done over and over and at length. A quick flash here and there fine, but so much revealing to me would be revolting. Believe me I am no prude, but am also not into the shock of experiencing an uncomfortable sight.

How delightful! The only time I saw Irises' in every conceivable colour was in the Bois de Vincennes. There was a particular garden set aside for these fabulous blooms.
