Thanks for the interest everyone - When I felt the sting I had long light-weight pants on. I'm sure I grasped the fabric where it was stinging and on the second sting I stripped off as fast as anything to see what creature was biting me. Nothing. Looked all around in the pants, on the bedroom carpet, all over but nothing to find. That's what's so maddening. I don't have a clue what little bugger got me! Even today it is as itchy as ever and all I can see are two small puncture marks in the red circle. The bright redness has turned into a darker shade. I'm still taking the odd Allergex when I remember.

It has been a very disappointing year for pumpkins. We have had too much rain and together with insect stings the pumpkins grew wonderfully but when cut open were riddled with a stinky water slush inside . I suppose the maggots were feeding and trying to get out.

Vladimir Putin was assassinated today by a Femen. The was head was completely destroyed. What was that all about Kerouac? I was looking up the last post Koloagirl from Kaua'i, Hawai'i posted. It's her birthday today according to Anyport records, but she has been long gone I see. I looked through your fantastic photos once again and am still mad at myself for never having been to Musee Grevin.

Beautiful place and so interesting. I loved the 'white on white' beds with what I think were Shasta daisies and white tulips. I found the modern building fitted in very well with its surroundings.

I am comforted by Kimby's information on ant bites as four days ago I felt a painful sting on my leg at the back of the knee, then within seconds a second stinging on the side of my calf. It was very very painful and I jumped out of my long slax as fast as I could. Looking for the culprit revealed nothing. Not on my leg or on the inside of my pants or on the bedroom carpet. I simply rubbed some anthisan cream on the bites and took an Allergex tablet. This did help but even now the area is red and darn itchy. I was worried I would have to see a doctor but now am re-assured it will eventually go away. I could not photo the back of my leg but here is what the other bite looks like.

Whenever possible, I use the fresh herb, not least because of the pleasure involved in picking or cutting it. I agree with using fresh wherever possible, but I alwways find the recipe calls for far too little. When it comes to rosemary, parsley, thyme I almost smother the potatoes or whatever in the herbs. As the cooking process happens they cook down and if there is any fat/oil left at the end , I save this and use it again as it has been wonderfully infused with the herbs. Cassi, I tried using dry rosemary once but found the little spikes of rosemary spoilt the "in the mouth feel" and I was spitting out the little twigs. If I was to ever use dried again I would put them in a cloth net or even empty a new unused teabag after ditching the tea and adding the dried rosemary before tying closed.

That must have been a real eye-opener Mark. It was for me. The first thing I noticed was the trash below where the cable car starts. So far everywhere you photographed has been clean and trash-less. Is this tourist rubbish? The second thing I see are what we call "Shack dwellings" but because our government is so embarrassed at the huge number of these close to the city dwellings, has renamed them "Informal Settlements". We saw the same thing in Rio with the famous favellas, but over the years they seem to be more acceptable. To me it seems that the ruling powers spend money on enormous projects like the cable car, and in our case just lined their own pockets. I cant wait to see what's at the top!

A simple supper of pork sausages, savoury rice with bacon and mushrooms, fresh green beans and baby squash - (they are shaped like a butternut and have green stripes), and grilled onion.
A hot meal to warm up as the temp has dropped to about 15C.

Yes you are quite right Kerouac! I had forgotten all about trees, but I was actually thinking about leaves when I saw that terrible scraping of a persons name on that huge one.
My husband has always disliked l o n g holidays and after three weeks gets very itchy to return home. I put it down to the stress of so many places, airports, trains and different hotels in a short period of time. Even though I do ALL the planning and bookings. Now me......I could just go on and on roaming all over.

Oh dear me Mark. I have never seen graffiti on a plant before! It is totally disgusting but must have been done at a quiet time when nobody was around. It is too big to have been carved into the leaf in minutes. The signs are all very well and good, but its like preaching to the converted. The people who screw things up are not interested in what you have to say or any behaviour that is expected of a normal human being.
The photos revealed a beautiful "Lobster Claw" flower which I first saw in Singapore years ago. Fabulous plant.

That means she was poisoned. Drinking that much neat alcohol in such a short period of time leads to an overload in the liver? or is it bloodstream? whichever, but you die as your body cannot cope. I hope they jail the grandmother. She must live with her stupidity which cost a dear little girl her life. Bitch. Many young men are challenged to drink a whole bottle of alcohol spirits and die.

Tarkastad Is a Karoo semi-urban settlement situated on the banks Tarka River in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The name Tarkastad is believed to come from the Khoi-Khoi word Traka (meaning women) or the Celtic word Tarka (meaning otter) and the Afrikaans word Stad (meaning city).

Bixa, I think Whatagain is referring to "kool" which here is Afrikaans/Dutch for cabbage. The Greek pasta could be Orzo that Whatagain mentioned. Looks like rice.

Kerouac your Briks look very nice - I've tried them in Paris at various places but am always disappointed as they are paper thin and very oily.
Kimby we call your Mahi-Mahi, Dorado, and it is often on menu's but hard to find at a fish shop.
