Thabazimbi - is an iron mining town in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The town name means "mountain of iron" because of the large iron ore reef that was discovered in 1919.

When in a merry mood our local Greek restaurant owner makes his way through the tables offering everyone a little glass of Grappa. He says its perfect for settling the stomach after a hearty meal. And of course he has a couple of glasses himself while shouting "OPPA"!

Just as well Kimby took the decision to make their own way to the airport but that still caused a bad start to the holiday. Glad you have taken this in your stride and are relaxing now.
I ordered a taxi for a very early start to (I think) it was Gare de l'Est, when going back to catch my flight from Frankfurt or maybe it was Munich - After an anxious wait and the concierge telephoning to find out why it hadn't pitched, a very nice lady driver arrived and not only got me there on time but parked her taxi and walked me to the entrance of the station building. She said strange things could happen at that time of the morning - around 5.am and it was still pitch dark outside. Sometimes one gets lucky.

I just finished the Grand Marnier, and I only buy it when it is on special, so I'll probably have to wait for a long time for more. I have a new unopened bottle - lets crack it together? I will make Crepe Suzette as that is the only way I have Grand Marnier unless in a trifle as a desert OR added to the sauce of Duck a la Orange.. How are you having it?

Tonight we dined on lamb chops, rice and vegetables. I rescued a bag of homegrown broccoli from the freezer and coated it in a cheese sauce before heating in the airfryer. Together with carrots and a rich Jaeger(hunter) gravy it was a lovely meal.

Kerouac wrote: "Unfortunately, it indicates why that type of palm is not really an efficient shade tree." So - I looked up this delightful palm. I wanted to know its name. My book on palms tells us that it's Latin name falls under the name Microcoelum: A genus of fine feather palms from Brazil and consists of only two species. Microcoelium weddellianum & Syagrus weddellianum.
Your Palm is Microcoelum Weddellianum: This is a particularly attractive little palm, with long fine arching fronds and a slender , single stemmed trunk. It is slow-growing and makes a graceful outdoor palm, reaching a height of 2m. Microcoelum weddellianum is best suited to moist, frost-free regions, and a semi shaded spot. It also makes a good container plant on a veranda provided it is kept in partial shad, well watereed, and a high level of humidity is maintained. Also a lovely indoor palm, it should be positioned in a medium light, with plenty of atmospheric moisture. It must never be allowed to dry out, and should be well misted during hot dry weather. Min.winter temp. 10C
Having read all that I can clearly see that it is in full sun. Seems to be doing OK,

We had our poached cold salmon with a lovely mixed salad. We like brown health bread on the side. I opened the little box of Thomy Sauce Hollandaise. Poured a little into a small jug and blitzed it for a mild temp in the micro. I was totally in love with it! Smooth and buttery and just gorgeous over each bite of salmon. To change it into a Bearnaise sauce all I have to do is spike it with tarragon. But I think a lot of roasted garlic would make it into a wonderful sauce for steak. cornermarket.co.za/products/copy-of-thomy-les-sauces-bearnaise-250ml

Kerouac - A magnificent feast! My favourite veg- carrots and peas. Being Easter Sunday I went all out with a beef rib roast with Yorkshire puddings. They were wonderful and puffed up. Just two of us but getting all done in an organised manner is not easy but I feel proud that the meat was still a lovely shade of pink when carved. Tomorrow may be my turn at salmon but it will be served cold with a creamy Hollandaise sauce and a salad..

As a non-religious person I can still enjoy the religion of other people in their happy environment. It is colourful and entertaining to say the least. And brought to us by our No.1 sleuth in Oaxaca! You did a great job. For us here, so much further along in the time zones, we have just enjoyed our Sunday dinner 5pm(usually a lunch) but its just the two of us so we please ourselves.

Edenburg Was proclaimed a town in 1863 . And was laid out on the farm Rietfontein in 1862 . The name is said to be either of biblical origin or an adaptation of Edinburgh, name of the birthplace in Scotland of the Reverend Andrew Murray, for many years the only minister in the Orange Free State.
