The photo that has a bit of a haze in the middle - I think opposite long stems leaves that could be ginger. The flowers are pink and hanging over the pathway.

I found this out about Pineapple Bromeliads - The pineapple is often taken to be the most beneficial out of all the other bromeliad varieties. In fact, it is the only bromeliad that can be consumed as a fruit. I am pretty sure MicktheCactus will identify the variety name.
Bixa - Mick - Anyone: Photo #8 - the one after the Delicious Monster fruit ( which is edible and has a lovely flavour) The one with the pink flowers. What plant is that? as I have one and cannot find anyone to identify it- Not even our plant nursery.
About that bad hairdo duck - It is a Crested Khaki Campbell duck. There are many varieties of crested ducks and it was quite a job finding a photo that matched Marks photo exactly.

Sorry to hear you guys have had bad time of it Mich. Someone in our circle of business dealings said she had flu - then sent a photo of her Covid test....Positive. I think it has to be this new strain but as far as we know it has not been detected in South Africa.
My food stocks are starting to run low which I like because it gives me the opportunity to start afresh. Scratching around to see what I can serve for a meal today I came across the perfect Good Friday meal.....Tempura Hake steaks, sweet and ordinary potato fries, and some mushy peas - they are tinned from Batchelors - I might switch to fresh frozen Petit Pois which I love. Happy fish Friday everyone!

Bixa - You lucky lady! What a brilliant flower.....and may I add that the colour you were describing must have been "Gentian Blue" That is the deep blue colour of a rare flower found among the rocky terrain of Ireland. I hunted and hunted but it illuded me. If this flower makes pods like a pea, please remember me.....

I made an early start to tonight's dinner prep. I have some frozen chicken thighs lolling around in two cups of chardonnay laced with thyme, rosemary, Oregano and fresh sage leaves. I'll add a ton of garlic and a dash or two of olive oil, pepper and salt before the oven.

OK, I found out this: "When the name "mimosa" is applied as a common name, any species in the Acacia genus may be called mimosa. In this application, there is no difference in mimosa and acacia trees. However, only when the common name "mimosa" is freely applied in a regional vernacular to multiple trees does the confusion start. For example, Albizia julibrissin may be interchangeably called silky mimosa, Persian acacia or silk-tree among various English-speaking nations or regions. Plants in the genus Acacia may be called mimosa, wattle, thorn-trees, acacia or prickly Moses".
Here in our area, we are surrounded by Wattle trees with their yellow flowers. I think the pink blooms are so lovely in Albizia Julibrissin or Silk Tree.
Whataggain I hope you store the wood as it is prized for long burning log fires.

I've never heard of Botero or even remembering seeing any of his work in Paris. It is not unpleasant but his theme seems to be that everything must be out of proportion.
I was in awe of that striped building. It is a real work of art.

Why didn't you wait until it produced some bananas? I think you are in for a surprise as a new baby banana tree will come up next to the old stump.

You encouraged me to make a mussel soup... Soupe aux moules - Recipe from my French Market recipe book. but in actual fact all one needed was a good stock - I used Knorr's Caldo de Marisco & Caldo de Peixe cubes. Added some white wine and saffron threads, fresh ground black pepper, heaps of chopped parsley and a few sliced spring onions ( besides the big white chopped onion and garlic cloves), and a good glug of thick cream. Into this a lot of mussels halves in the shell.
It was very tasty and the warm loaf of Ciabatta was perfect to mop up the juices.

I’m mad because I got locked out of Facebook for 24 hours for posting a 60 year old image of me and my sisters in a bathtub when we were toddlers. I don't think it was because of the innocent nudity or anything like that. I think it might be because these stinking rotten perverts that roam the net may have the technology to alter the photo and re-posted on a porn sight. I'm just trying to see their(FB) perspective however far fetched it may seem.

That lobster made me drool! You can keep the oysters....unless smoked.
Lovely vistas all around. Can I inform Bixa here? Bixa a Munro is a mountain/hill - the best example is Ben Nevis at 1345m in height. That is a sort of beginner-climbers mountain. I climbed 1,976m here just up the road at the foothills of the Drakensburg. Did it twice, once at 15yrs old and again at 55!

Well I never - Yesterday I tuned in to a regular website called Foxes Afloat (because they used to have a Narrowboat) but are now in Scotland. And this video might show you how scary things got for Lugg. T think you will agree that these chaps did a magnificent job in documenting the fire in Scotland by sending up a drone.

Gougere Au Jambon for tomorrow night supper Bixa that is kind of you to say but...... Not always a great meal - My gougere decided not to rise very much and I did not particularly like the filling. I did not have a really dry white wine and the Riesling gave it a sweetish after taste. Edible but room for improvement! The pastry fail was entirely my fault of having the mixture too runny. It cannot have more flour added to the half cooked lot in the pot. You have to make a seperate lot without egg and mix the two together. Not for me, so I took a chance and it failed.

That is so disheartening bjd, I can only suggest you get a plant growth booster and dose them up. Could give them the kick they need to get going again.
