Gasteria armstrongii. Incidentally the name Gasteria refers to the stomach shaped flowers.

This one looks a big grumpy, but god loves all of her creatures, so they say.

Two years ago I bought an aloe vera plant at Lidl. Other than occasional watering, I didn't do anything with it but the other day I noticed it needed a new pot -- it was still in the original plastic one. When I took it out, I noticed that there were 6 plants there -- I gave away 4 and the two others were so imbricated that I was afraid of destroying the roots so left them as one plant in a bigger pot. Those things are hardy!

I think it's so amazing that your Aloes bloom for you at the same time they're blooming in Mexico & presumably S.Africa or Zanzibar or wherever it is they all come from.

*desire*
Well, not the scalded looking Gymnocalycium(?), but the rest are wonderful. I hope anyone who buys one takes it out of the beautiful pot & puts it in something more appropriate. Mick, don't you have a plant in the same family as the ones in the square pots in the last picture? (my brain is not giving me even a hint of the name).
Is the top picture a Clivia going to seed?

I’m not entirely sure what the ones in the square pot are. Dioscoreas?
Yes looks like a variegated Clivia.

Part of the remarkable collection of my good friend Ralph Martin Good grief!! Remarkable is right, Mick. Does he sell them, swap them, or simply enjoy them? (& there must be a good bit of propagation going on, too)

He sells and swaps bixa. We are frequently sending little boxes to each other. Interesting man. He retired as professor of computing at Cardiff University but still goes regularly to China to lecture and judge competitions.

I'm impressed with your friend's collection Mickthecactus, the plants all look so healthy and neat! Unlike my aloe polyphylla. It collapsed into mush. I'm gutted. It was in a butler sink by the GH and usually gets by in the winter with minimum protection. Not last winter tho...

Really sorry to hear that Cheery. Kew lost theirs as well so you’re in good company. My two survived but marked.
