Oh, I just love that!
I went to youtube to find more by her, but that's all there is. She is known more for being an actress, right?

Yes, isn't that fun? It is the actress Kendrick without "s", and this may have come from a recentish movie called Pitch Perfect. Looking at trailer, it looks like, disappointingly, of the new genre: Sorority Sister of Bridesmaids, with Token Vulgar but Funny Fat Girl.

Wish I could remember why she looks so familiar.
Yes, the song came from that movie. Here she is doing the same song on Letterman. Pretty impressive:

Bixa I really like Green Garden too. I have not listened to others yet but on the basis of Green Garden and Its Alright I am going to buy her album. Did you see the comment from the choreographer on You Tube ? If not here is what I found

So nice! Yes, I'd seen the comment, but hadn't followed it up, so thanks for posting that. I found myself smiling as I watched it. She's so beautiful, too! Love how her stuff is so varied.

Yes! Thanks for the Green Garden one, lugg. I hadn't opened that. Really fun video and choreography here, too. Mvula is an original.
Bixa, Anna Kendrick is in lots of movies these days. I remember her most from Up in the Air.

Oh, that's delightful!
You might like this singer too. I just discovered her a couple of days ago, but on youtube there are videos of her back to 2008. Yael Naïm:

Yes, Yael Naim is a big star in France.
Meanwhile, anybody with an interest in Louisiana might find the new #1 song in France of interest.

Yael Naim is becoming more well known here too. I liked Sweet Pea, intrigued enough to search out more of Amos Lee. Very catchy little tune and fun video by Christophe Mae, I enjoyed it, despite not understanding more than a few words

These two guys are so lovely! I heard There By Your Side tonight on a first season episode of Switched at Birth. (Casimira: I'm writing this after 10:30 pm -- just too late to tell you that their website shows they're playing at Tipitina's tonight. ) Well, I could keep adding videos all night! Go here:

I stumbled across Melody Gardot in a an MP3 listing -- she kept coming up under "Bye Bye Blackbird", so I clicked out of curiosity. Wow. (Listen: pleer.com/tracks/4796916S7Rw) Then I went to youtube where, judging by the zillions of views of her videos, I'm late to this game. The Piaget ad intrigued me, showing her all glamorous, but with dark glasses and a cane, so I looked her up online. Her story is fascinating: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melody_GardotHer interpretation of this song cemented my fandom: Okay, one more ~~

Well, Bixa, I have to apologise for my earlier comments on the other thread, regarding the Piaget commercial. I did not realise that Gardot was disabled, but it is very interesting that they incorporated that aspect of her life into the ad. Now I don't know how it makes me feel.

Exploited? ;D
I had the very same reaction to the commercial. Actually, I think she's been able to ditch the glasses & cane by now.

Yael Naïm is popular in Québec as well. I'm very surprised that I'd somehow missed Christophe Maé - that sounds like it should be extremely popular here.
You need a Dutch bicycle song! (in English). Parents cycling with babies, children, dogs... and the singer with his mum and sister, I believe: Anthony's Putsch - King of the World.
I don't know how to upload YouTubes...

Ooo, LaGatta ~~ love that song! Must look up more Anthony's Putsch.
My next new favorite isn't really new to me. However, it's one of those things that I knew & liked without really locking in on it. Now, my life plan is to run off with Alex Turner. That voice! And I love his lyrics, as well.

Ohhh ~~ good find, Casimira! I looked her up to find more. I guess by this time you know she has a song called "Avant Gardener" (life's getting hard in here so I did some gardening) ;D. Great title & great showcase for her voice & delivery.

Yes, I heard that song as well. It's off a double CD I received as a Christmas gift. Someone who really knows my taste to be sure. I perseverated over which track to post. Glad you caught that one. She's only 25, out of Melbourne. Fantastic talent.

You always find such good stuff.
Here's a group that's not new, just new to me. Really like the song on the first video, but really really love gazing upon Idris Elba.
Apparently they're on some kind of extended sabbatical. This is lovely ~~

Kerouac got me hooked on this guy a few months ago, and I'm so grateful. I'm a huge, huge Jacques Brel fan, and Stromae to me is carrying on in that great tradition. Music that deals with difficult subjects, in captivating ways. I'm more than a little in love.
