Looking forward to seeing that. Thanks Kerouac.
I would have thought that the honor would be for only French born persons. (which would mean that you, Kerouac couldn't be given this honor. That would be a shame)
Not that Ms.Baker isn't worthy of this honor by any means.

She was naturalised French in 1937. Today is the anniversary of her naturalisation.

Pantheonisation. Some journalist deserve to be put in jail.... I'm trying to determine what you are objecting to or are offended by Whatagain.

I am offended. It is an ugly word that means nothing. We could so simply say 'l'entrée au Pantheon'. But no, low level journalists have to invent new words.

They won't get to use it often since the Panthéon only houses 81 people, not a whole lot since they started in 1791.

I'm trying to determine what you are objecting to or are offended by Whatagain. I agree Whaty. I object to the "Cold blooded murder of the English Tongue"

I had lunch with a French friend and her husband today and we discussed the ceremony in Paris. Somewhere I must have missed the information about the Pantheon burial as only being symbolic: "The placement is symbolic since Baker's body is buried in Monaco, where it will remain as her family has requested. However, the Nov. 30 ceremony includes placing a coffin containing handfuls of soil from four places she lived during her life in a tomb reserved for her in the Pantheon's crypt." www.dw.com/en/josephine-baker-the-first-black-woman-to-be-inducted-into-frances-pantheon/a-58950547

There are a few other cenotaphs in the Panthéon. Albert II of Monaco attended the ceremony because his mother took care of Josephine Baker and her family when she went broke.

70 years ago today, 7 December was very memorable for my stepfather who was with his fleet at Pearl Harbor. On the same date in 1967 he married my mother, although the Alabama official dated their marriage certificate 1 January 1968 since my mother had only been divorced for a few days, and the real date would have looked tacky. (Other times, other mores.) Actually, it was the only convenient day that they both had off -- it was not planned to be that day in advance. They had just crossed the state line to get information about when it could be done since Alabama law was apparently less restrictive than Mississippi law regarding certain details.

I'm not much of a Christmas person but, I wish all of you a joyous holiday with your family and loved ones.
As we move into a New Year I hope that all of us have a better year as many of us have had to deal with many trials and tribulations.
I am very grateful to be part of this group of very special people and want to thank all of you for your kindness and support during a particularly trying year for my husband and I.
Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. xxx C.
