The streets were wet when I got up this morning, but I don't know how much it rained during the night. It hasn't rained today (yet) but the temperature only got up to 27°. Inside my flat, the temperature is still 30° downstairs because it takes several days for the building to cool down.
I'm upstairs with the aircon.

Theres no doubt we are going to follow in UK's footsteps and have one hell of a hot summer. It's 31C here today. At least the temp . of the swimming pool water will be rising so we can all submerge once more.

Wet, wet, wet and wet here. The air so thick with humidity it's like being inside a room temperature watermelon. Temps @ 90Fish but the cloud cover diminishes glaring hot sunlight.

The weather has turned a drizzly cool day. I appreciate the cooler temps but walking around outside might have to be done in fits and starts due to a light drizzle.

Its hotter than hell here (San Francisco Bay Area) 106 yesterday and even hotter tomorrow. I do have air conditioning though so that has saved the day.

I cannot imagine it being that hot in San Francisco. You are fortunate to have AC. I assume there are many people in your area who don’t. I wouldn’t think it was needed all that much in the past. My oldest daughter lives south of you, up in the hills north of LA, and yesterday it was105F with no break in sight. Her numerous chickens have been overly stressed by the heat even though family members are continuously spraying their chicken coop with a fine water mist.

SF area doesn't see triple digits often, that's for sure. I remember one fierce heat wave when I lived across the bay in Berkeley around 1970 where it might have. I luckily was a young child then and somewhat immune.

Here we are forecast to just hit 30C this afternoon. Luckily it's just for one day. We aren't used to such heat here where it's never once reached 100F.

It has in Montréal, more than once. Of course we don't have the generally cool but never very cold climate of the raincoast, but we have beat many records. Though the most extreme records have been much farther north, in Arctic Siberia and Canada, and I belive in parts of Scandinavia.
I hate being cold, and our winters have actually been far more mild than in decades before, but the freeze and thaw means ice that can be lethal for people getting around, no matter how.

I bet the rain is a relief, Mossie! It’s actually fairly pleasant on my screened porch at the moment and the overhead fan is moving the air nicely. I’d been enjoying sitting out here, for a change. My view is of a woodsy area with lots of interesting birds and butterflies. But then the remodelers next door arrived. So much for a peaceful Sunday afternoon.

And you are north of us, Mich! It is terribly hazardous for pedestrians and drivers alike. And I wouldn't even think of cycling when it's icy. If it is cold but not icy, no problem - one dresses for it. There was an episode a couple of years ago when I was volunteering for a political candidate and had to take the bus for an absurbly short ride because the viaduct passageway the bus took was so icy I couldn't cross it safely. If not, I could have walked there in the same time.

It's true we did not have AC when originally bought my house. If there was a hot spell I would spend hours perusing the frozen food aisles Safeway. However my son, who had autism, could not tolerate hot weather so we installed AC. This is our first really hot spell of the summer and we expect it to last until Thursday. Mercifully I am not in a fire zone.

The first sentence read sounded heavenly! And you are north of us, Mich! It is terribly hazardous for pedestrians and drivers alike. I am dreading this coming winter, on the other hand, we will not have to worry about making any road trips as far as we can see if the COVID19 situation remains the same. But the day to day road conditions I expect will be hazardous as usual. We have noticed some strange nature events though, an incredible population of chipmunks this summer and they are burrowing shallow holes. We wonder if this is an indicator of whether we are going to have a very cold or a very warm winter? Also, we are all noticing that there are very few birds? We are not hearing birds chirping in the morning. Have no idea what that could mean?

Speaking of "signs" and nature, we have a tremendous number of acorns on the oak tree just in front of our garden. In my Canadian way of thinking, that means a harsh winter ahead (to feed all those chipmunks maybe?), but on looking for information that doesn't seem to be the case. There are essentially no harsh winters here. If there is a bit of frost, the locals nod knowingly, "Ah, the bugs will freeze and won't be so bad next year." I always feel like saying, "You don't know Canadian or Swedish or Siberian mosquitoes which all survive much more than a night or two of frost."
Meanwhile, it's 16° here this morning, a bit cloudy, mid-20s forecast for this afternoon.

Started off with dark cloud cover at sunrise but soon sun with the odd cloud wafting by. There is a very cold wind blowing. The tops of the mountains are covered in snow. Our winter has come and gone very mildly, but it is not unusual to have a colder snap nearer spring - 1st September.

It's been miserably HOT here all week. Temperatures in the high 90F's with heat indexes up to 105F. We're not big fans of AC but have been using it more than ever. Keeping an eye on the tropics and potential storm activity.

The weather in Le Havre was spectacularly warm while I was there (25° instead of the usual 18-20°), and when I returned to Paris it was the same temperature although now it seems dismal and muggy here.

We are having the nicest rain, with no thunder, lighting, strong winds, or other drama. I went to the organic market (where I got to talk to live human beings in person!). On the way back it started sprinkling lightly, but I had enough time to get all the way home and to place the rain-gathering buckets under the eaves. Happy.

We had a monumental storm this evening. It started raining from the east, then pouring with wind coming from all directions. There was hail mixed in with the rain and the noise was deafening. I forgot that the louvered windows over the stairwell were open. When I checked the stairs were soaked, as was the upstairs hall! (Htmb & Kerouac -- you all might remember that partial wall between the stairs and the upstairs hall. This was the first time the rain blew in hard enough to wet the hall.) It also came in through the closed upstairs south-facing window. Whew!

Gosh...tbh I love watching that sort of bucketing down rain...ad long as I'm indoors and it doesnt last too long.
It feels like we are at the back end of summer...the mornings are chilly now. We've had long periods of sunshine interspersed with heavy showers.
