Him up there has suddenly woken up to the fact he hasn't been giving us our rain ration for some time, and is making up for it in no uncertain manner. I foolishly thought yesterday afternoon that he had slowed the tap and, being desperate to escape these four walls, went for a little walk and got wet.

A lovely day with a low but vey enjoyable temperature with sun until after lunch when the clouds initiated a slight drizzle. It was the perfect weather for a nice hot dinner.

It was nice this morning, but Jeff and the dog got drenched this afternoon in a downpour. We've had an hour of calm but the skies are darkening and I guess that we are in for more rain. Oh well, it will soon be summer again...

We were away from Wednesday until last night. It seems to have rained here the entire time -- fields are flooded everywhere and the level of the water in the lake has risen a lot. It rained again this morning and more is forecast for tomorrow. Not cold though -- it was 19° early this evening.
Meanwhile, we had some rain on Friday afternoon, but generally managed to escape the rain and had gorgeous sunshine and wind on the south coast of France. Fortunately we were west of the worst of the storm that devastated the area around the French/Italian border.

October Long Weekend has just passed...a time when everyone with serious camping/ caravaning gear heads out to the desert country in the north of my state. Then it rains in the far north and rivers that were dry fill with gushing floods and the red earth becomes a swamp.
Some of the vehicles that beat the head-waters to the bitumen roads make it out, carrying messages for the police, relatives and kid's school teachers. Helicopters check if everyone is OK and carry supplies for the stranded.
There is no phone coverage for 100s of kilometres but the more cashed up campers may have a satellite phone. It is very cold with night time getting down to minus 8-10C. Finally the wind and sun have dried the track and the procession of muddy adventurers get home. (They don't wash the cars or tent for a week or so, however)

Our municipal gym class was held outside yesterday, probably for the last time this year. We saw that four trees were broken by the wind on Saturday. They fell on the fence surrounding the tennis court.
No rain today and it is supposed to be 20°.

I was in Bayonne on Thursday -- sunny and 22°. Yesterday we had clouds and warmish anyway. I wanted to get home before the forecast rain and storms but in fact we had sun nearly all day, even though it wasn't very hot. But I gardened and it was warm in the sun.

Getting quite cool in France, below seasonal norms. I don't mind. I did turn on the heat for 15 minutes yesterday.

I turned the heat on yesterday but the sun we had today warmed things up a bit too. No rain today -- first day in a while -- but it was only 9° this morning. It is supposed to get warmer starting this weekend.

I just put away my fans and mobile air conditioner and brought out the heaters, but I have not needed to use them yet. I could see all those protesters bundled up in winter gear in your photos. After a gorgeous week of cool autumn like weather we are back to much warmer temperatures and muggy humidity. While out in my lemon grove yesterday I saw that one of the trees had fruit ripening on one branch and blossoms on another. Crazy and confused. We are also in a kind of drought right now and I am having to water much more than I would like to or have the energy for.

We had very strong winds during the night -- they were particularly powerful in the Pyrenees, which are not all that distant. But this morning it was 20°, the sun is shining, and it's still a bit windy. On the weekend, it was about 5° in the morning!

21° in Paris today. The last hurrah of Indian summer, probably. But with climate change, you never know these days.
