Not here. The forecast was wrong again and other than a bit of rain during the night, it has been mild and quite pleasant. Still 11° at 8:30pm. Up to nearly 17° this afternoon with some sun.

The warming trend continues here with a high of 79F forecast for today. It's so nice to have all the windows open and people watch the different people we have come to know that pass each day. A lot of people with their dogs, some who have made "friends" with our dog. Others with children pass by daily as well. It's been fun today to see some of the children with their new Christmas presents, tricycles, baby carriages with dolls in them etc.

It's about 15F here today, but doesn't feel like it because the wind is blowing at 40 mph as well. Good news is it may briefly get above freezing during the days next week.

Raining off and on with rising temperatures. They tell us that Saint Sylvestre will feel like spring.

The birds have been singing at dusk and dawn for a couple of weeks now as if it were spring.

Still very mild for December but it's raining this morning. Forecast for starting on Thursday is between 7-10° at night and 18/19° during the day. A week ago we had 1 or 2° in the morning.

Maybe you can start a mushroom garden.

Sun, a breeze, blue sky and 16° right now but we'll be around 20° this afternoon. No mushroom gardening for me.

Heh heh heh.
If it's any consolation, towards the end of the dry season it can get miserably hot.

80F at present with a high of 83F expected for the day. There is a nasty storm event forecasted for most of the SE in the next day or so. Heavy rains, possible tornadoes etc. Parts of Alabama got swacked with tornado activity last night wreaking havoc there and expected to move into Tennessee, Kentucky and neighboring states. Gratefully, NOLA is not on the radar to be affected by this system.
Sorry Mick...

That will be the approximate high here today, but with no lovely rain forecast for later.
It's 74/23 right now with only 40% humidity. The only sound is the very light playing of the wind chimes in a gentle breeze. That breeze is also moving all the crystals outside and filling my living room with rainbows. What a contrast with the noisy drama of last night!

For the last 5 days or so we have had weather in the upper 70F's. Christmas and New Year's were around 82-83F.
It is currently 64F with temperatures forecasted to plunge into the 30F's with high winds and rain.
I am in a quandary because the vast majority of my tender potted plants are over on the ground's way in the back of the lot at the other house.
I have no room to put them here so, I'm going to have to figure out something to resolve this situation.
I know that the tender Tropicals in the ground are going to bite the dust but, the potted ones are what is causing my dilemma.
(The giant Hoya Carnosa that I have had for many years now is of particular concern).

Casimira, is there any way to clump all those pots together & then rake leaf litter up around them? Maybe it would even be worth it to buy some mulch to help make a blanket for them. Don't water the pots. You are right that the H.carnosa is particularly problematic. Take a couple of cuttings of it if you can find space for them. Cover the entire Hoya with leaves/mulch. After you've gotten the pots bundled up as much as possible, throw something -- plastic, rags, whatever -- over the top. (I realize that you've probably lost the kind of stuff you'd usually use for this endeavor. I also realize that you undoubtedly already know everything I suggested.)

Thanks Bixa for your suggestions. In the meantime, just after I posted that, good ol' Luke phoned me and asked if there was anything he could do with regards to the pending frost possible freeze. Voila!! He is going over there and going to load them up in his van and take them to his house to put them inside. My savior!

So glad you won't loose your plants Casi. I don't know if this has ever been done in your part of the world but here I've heard of covering the entire plant in a sheet of Vilene. There are many various thicknesses of vilene but the light gossamer kind is best. I can;t swear by it - only heard about this method
