21° at 9pm. Pleasant and sunny all day but not too hot, it was about 24° this afternoon. Still need some rain -- all the storms are passing us by and we just get an occasional sprinkle.

Here in SoFla we just logged 14.5 inches of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Indeed. My daughter was in Miami yesterday and it was pretty awful. We heard from Sanibel neighbors that we got at least 14 inches of rain (their rain gauge overflowed) and there is standing water in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile in Montana, June showers are suppressing May flowers, if you catch my drift.

Sweltering temperatures here for weeks now. 94F at 9:00am. No relief in sight. Zaps me of what little energy I have to do anything outside. I'm tending to two gardens of friends on holiday. I have had to water every day at one place because most of her plants are in containers (some of them are root bound so the water just runs straight through) I can get away with every other day at the other place because she has really good soil that drains well and is well mulched.

We had a wild weather event at the lake cottage. We can often see weather coming long before we feel it, as we look out over at least a mile of lake surface in the direction weather usually comes from, SW.
Mr. Kimby had noticed some dramatic clouds, then realized he was HEARING some strange sound. We both went outside and there was a roaring sound coming from the far end of the lake. Then we noticed a line of dark disturbance on the water, moving toward us as the roaring got louder. Soon the first pellets of hail started pinging off our cottage and before long there were drifts of pea-sized hail forming on our deck. We watched a small flock of geese paddling furiously upwind, looking pretty uncomfortable in the barrage. Not much later the storm moved on and life returned to normal. I wish I’d thought to take some video of this flash-mob of weather.

Wow! Dramatic, but sounds as though it could have been really destructive.
It is completely quiet here right now (8:47 pm) & no rain or thunder, etc. Here is what it was like at 7:20 pm. View on youtube to see all the very wet details ~

Finally getting a bit of rain here too this morning. Certainly not nearly enough to satisfy farmers and gardeners since it is supposed to get hot again this weekend.

Great video Bixa. If I didn't know it was Oaxaca I would have said "that's New Orleans"!!
The sweltering heat here continues. An occasional thunderstorm but other than that the temperatures have hit 90F by noon for a couple of weeks now.
The river is down to 11 feet, the magic number we've been waiting for the soil analysis to be done but, the engineer is on vacation so until he gets back, we wait and wait...
Weary and frustrated.

Nice cool (15°) morning today. We had on and off rain yesterday and the garden really appreciated it. Low 20s forecast for today, some sun, some clouds.

Continuing heat wave here. Large patches of cloud cover allow for some relief. Rolling "black outs" yesterday. We lost power for two hours midday yesterday. No relief in sight.
Already 89F at 10 a.m.

Cool and rainy almost every day. Yesterday however was a lovely sunny day. And we spent it doing yard work. Mr. Kimby fired up the chainsaw and dropped 3 big trees that were killed by beetles. I dragged 225 feet of hose to a bare spot we use as a burn pit and started burning the branches. (With a permit, of course.)
Because the trees were dead and dry, the branches exploded into shards when they hit the ground, and we spent a couple hours of that lovely day on hands and knees filling wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow with pieces of branches and dumping them on the fire.
Hard dirty sweaty work. And now today is raining, so we’re stuck inside. Next nice day we’ll “get to” wheelbarrow all those firewood length “rounds” to the wood pile area, and we’ll rent a splitter and split it into firewood for the next couple winters.
As Henry David Thoreau said, firewood warms you twice. Once when you make it and again when you burn it.

I'm impressed Kimby as well,
Last night we had thunderstorms and upon awakening I could see from the large puddles outside that it must have rained throughout the night. The forecast is for rain all day and possible flooding in some low-lying areas of the city.

With the major rain event in the past 24 hours which caused many areas of the city getting up to 4 or 5 inches in just an hour finally having passed through we are now experiencing a significant burst of Saharan dust blowing through the region along the Gulf Coast. This is not that rare an occurrence and it makes for beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Last evening's sunset was spectacular with a mix of brilliant colors, red, orange, pink...

I didn't realise that there was any left over Saharan dust after its trip through Europe.

More rain and more drear. (Is that a word?)
Summer is too short in Montana anyway. We need it to START. RIGHT. NOW!!!

If drear is not a word, it should be.
Here it just started raining out of nowhere. No thunder, no lightning, no drizzle, no darkening sky, just big fat drops pelting down from the east. Nothing left of it now but some very fine drizzle and water dripping off the roof. The whole thing lasted no more than five minutes.

Continuing heat wave here and the Saharan Dust still blowing through. It's affecting some people with respiratory problems. To me it's not nearly as bad as the dust and grit that the leafbowers from hell we experience weekly when the crew comes every week.
95F at present.

I think it only got up to 27° in Paris, butI have my air conditioner on anyway. You are supposed to turn on such things before you are uncomfortable, so that's what I did.

It's been around 28°C here most of the day. Took the dog out early before it got too warm, Jeff drove to the park this afternoon so that the dog could walk amongst the wooded areas in the shade. First day we've had the fan on in the living room this year...

It's 31° in Paris at 19:30. I spent most of the day in my air conditioned upstairs room, so I am not suffering. It is likely that I will do the same for the next 3 days at least.

Down to 28° at 8 pm here. It was actually only 30° today but our gym class was cancelled. When weather permits we usually do it outside but the city didn't want to take chances. Anyway, most people didn't turn up.
It is supposed to be much hotter for the next few days, then storms on Sunday.
